It's so interesting watching Mahidevran's reactions everytime Hurrem's new pregnancy was announced! First time she fainted, second time she looked really upset and the third time she just smiled and looked down, almost like she had kinda accepted her defeat and there was no point in fighting for Suleiman's love anymore..

@@Beedee664Yep, and look where it got her in the end. Look at what it cost her. Her wealth, her dignity, her happiness, her home, her friends, allies, supporters, and most importantly, in my mind, her son, who was just about the only person who genuinely cared about her, in spite of knowing how cruel, selfish, condescending, and hypocritical she was. A part of me really does feel bad for her and how she turned out, but if you ask me, she was the one who got herself in that situation to begin with.

the show aside, i’m honestly still in awe for the casting of hurrem and mahidevran. both actresses played their roles perfectly. meryem uzerli as hurrem was strikingly beautiful, with red hair and blue eyes that stood out among the sea of concubines, and she was also so full of charms that one can’t help but fall for her the same way suleyman did. and nur fettahoglu as mahidevran, was also incredibly beautiful. the actress did such a wonderful job in portraying a woman who was full of bitterness, jealousy and grief, and i’m sure it was no easy job playing such an emotional character like mahidevran. these two were perfectly casted and i will die on this hill

Hurrem is a slave here, and they were trying to sell her by marrying her off by making the her Mahr the price of her freedom which they were (probably) getting from pasa. Or maybe just selling her as a slave to pasa's son which is more likely because she said " he's a stranger to me, and I am a Muslim woman" which means there was no marriage; because if she was getting married her husband wouldn't be a stranger to her. By the way Hurrem's argument is wrong because becoming a Muslim doesn't free a slave and slaves are not strangers to their masters. * In Islam stranger in this context means a person whom you are not related (either by blood or marriage) *Mahr is somthing of value (money, land, house, etc) that the groom pays to the bride for marrying her.

If I remember correctly, concubines that had slept with the Sultan usually were not married off, unless the Sultan had died.

It happened. Suleiman had a half brother born after a concubine was married off and they didn't know she was pregnant. Any child born to a step father was excluded from the line of succession.

This always confused me. I know the Valide wants to get rid of Hurrem but they all know shes been with Suleiman alot. Wouldn't they have waited at least 3-6 months to make sure she wasn't pregnant before trying to marry her off? I mean it's a practical move to make sure that a woman isn't sent off with a baby Sulemin in her belly and they all know how babies are made.....
@princess7jasmine3 ай бұрын
Historically, this is actually what happened with the mother of Suleiman's half brother. She got married off whilst pregnant for unknown reasons and her son, despite being known as a son of the sultan, was never recognized as a prince. They were probably thinking of that here.

Hürrem's bratty attitude towards other concubines was precisely why she had NO friends in the harem early on aside from Gulnihal (who she hurt extremely badly).
@dejeelbullyingnoesbueno82453 ай бұрын
@@princess7jasmine while i agree Hürrem had the opportunity to prove herself, as she did so throughout the show, i've always struggled to put the slaves' attitude towards her on she herself as, despite her rebelliousness, the feud was reciprocate to the hostility she received from the beginning from them. Perhaps it reaffirmates myself that the harem is characterized to be like that with anyone. Any new person is mocked, if they get a chance, they are hated, abused or killed and fights can ensue for minor disagreements. Even Gülnihal who was average was mocked by other girls when Hürrem beat her up. I may be mistaken, so i welcome being corrected.

She was showing off to the same concubines that were mobbing her and bullying her when she was chosen by Suleiman, like their petty jealous remarks in the hamam and mocking her when Mahidevran blocked her on her first night. You know, it’s funny cause your comment perfectly describes Nurbanu whom you worship. She was arrogant and rude to everyone around since the day she set foot in Topkapi, including Valeria whom she ended up killing. She was a spoiled Venetian brat turned into a slave and thought Valeria was still her servant. So, your diss attempt at Hurrem for this but blatant worship of Nurbanu whom actually acted that way are weird and don’t go hand in hand 💀. Braindead comment…

@@dejeelbullyingnoesbueno8245 Exactly, her attitude was a response to their mobbing. They literally group bullied and mocked her but she’s “bratty” for reciprocating. It’s also extra hilarious cause the commenter is a Nurbanu fanatic that acted far worse and more bratty since the moment she arrived in Topkapi. She goes around complaining about “Nurbanu being disliked and Hurrem liked by the audience even though they were the same” but carries bias against Hurrem herself while worshipping Nurbanu 💀

@falcon-moon1 The only brain dead comment is yours. If you actually watched the show, you'd also see that the other concubines were trying to be FRIENDLY with her and chat with her. She was never "mobbed" in the sense they were trying to hate on her. Same way they didn't hate Ayse Hatun for being chosen by Suleiman. Oh and I never denied Nurbanu has also done the same thing, but I didn't mention her here because she's irrelevant. Please think before you comment.
