I loved his character the most. He reminds me so much of my grandfather. Always so quiet and shy. I was heart broken by his death and how he died. He just didn't deserve to be so sick

The hardest scene was when Matthew passed on in Anne’s arms in the field!! I cried like a baby!! They both loved each other so very much! 💜💙👑🎩

Have you seen Straight Story (movie)? Farnsworth's finest role. He was riddled with bone cancer and every scene he is in is beyond painful. He never told anyone on the movie he had cancer nor his pain. I read he killed himself when the pain became too great...Such a fine actor and man...

I don't think he was such an "actor", at least in Anne of Green Gables, it was his wonderful "real" nature that shined through in his character. He was lovely!
