2” for the parlour sump outlet is plenty as you’ll have more pressure and less blockages. Your moving on nicely lad 👌

I think you've a lot more work ahead of you than you realise. Hopefully, you prove me wrong

Looks like great progress. Put in another pipe for the soiled water before you pour the concrete or you'll be digging your yard up whenever you get to build a soiled water tank.

Place is taking shape fair play! I use the spade for building sand castles to throw out the lime on the cubicles I find it works 100% and it’s cheap more importantly!

Fine looking job and well done , Just in case a heifer calves early you should ask around if anyone has a mobile milker and you could milk in the crush or if your stall work was in place you could milk one or two that way

Great progress and looks a nice simple system, time is flying by and you’ll be surprised how soon you’ll be milking 👍. Using lime please be aware you’ll breath more of the evil stuff in whilst milking than bedding up. I always wear a mask whilst milking on the farms where they use sawdust and lime.

Thanks for the update...are you still working off farm,and if so what is your plan around that..
@martinoneill16448 күн бұрын
You can buy a push scraper with wheels that would be a help at local co-op. Engine one is crazy money if it’s only short term need.
@johnnyflat213813 күн бұрын
Fair play for the update. Get a mobile parlour organised ASAP, there won't be cows milked in that parlour for a few months.

The sooner he realizes this the better or he’ll be sitting on a three legged stool with a bucket between his knees. This is going to be tough watching in a few short weeks, the naivety is worrying.
@tc657311 күн бұрын
Speaking from experience I would advise you to have a wider gate on at least one end of the parlour pit. It has happened that a cow through being pushed goes down and falls into pit. You mighten think it but it does happen!
@patjuliettefleming115013 күн бұрын
A quicker way to lime cubicles get a metal scoop used for meal or nuts at local co op small wheelbarrow with lime one throw will a couple at a time will save time if liming twice a day when cows calve
@alanbyrne4348Күн бұрын
A little ash shovel is great for the lime
@johncarroll889113 күн бұрын
Better get a move on Kieran there is a lot more work to do calving time wont be long

Well Kieran great job be done on parlor, what kind of lime are you using is there a certain brand you use ?
@DylanFarrell-t3j10 күн бұрын
Your lucky with the eye, happened to me 2 weeks ago I was spreading lime and a cow got up and hit me in the eye with her tail and that with lime I ended up in a&e with a bad infection like you had to wash it in a trough as mains was under repair it wasn’t the nicest of procedures in hospital for the sake of glasses and mask it’s worth investing in them
@Imtheman197711 күн бұрын
What about a sieve for the lime?
@ToriOBrien-t5b13 күн бұрын
Best way to put out lime is your hand, one hand full normally covers 2 cubicles, your using too much
@gerrymulligan260212 күн бұрын

@trevorpower643113 күн бұрын
Dont use too much lime especially with heifers,it makes their udders sore before calving and they will kick the crap out of u and can be bad for cows feet too
