Im a combat veteran w severe PTSD and multiple head injuries. My life since returning home so many years ago had still been a rough road. Many times i have thought of suicide and giving in to the darkness. This song touches me in so many ways. It gives me hope, it makes me want to tell the whole world how much i cherish my family. And my service dog Trigger who i cant possibly imagine NOT being w me. If this somehow gets to Sully, i just want to say thank you. Ive enjoyed your music since the early 90's and i will always. Matter of fact i want this song played at my surfing funeral. I want my ashes scattered in the line up at Jax Bch Fla at the north side of the pier with my wife, kids, and grand kids all in the water, on boards, in a circle for a celebration not a mourning. So thank you Sully, i appreciate it.

As a single father of an absolutely amazing little girl, this touched me deep down in my soul. You see, I raised my baby girl pretty much by myself since the day she was born, as her 'egg donor' wanted no part of being a parent but every part of being a junkie. She abandoned us when Journey was 8 months old so I took on the responsibility and absolute pleasure of raising her by myself. We've been to rock bottom and back over the last 8 years and that has created an amazing relationship between us. Well, in May of 2019, I was offered a REALLY good job opportunity, that paid well but unfortunately, accepting the offer meant being out of state for weeks at a time. After it being just the two of us for so long, I was having a REALLY hard time deciding what to do and after fighting with myself for a few days, I made the toughest decision of my life and accepted the offer but only because my mother agreed to keep Journey for me so I could go and do what I knew had to be done to make a better life for my baby girl. I came home yesterday, to spend Father's Day with her and mom and just now heard this song for the first time, while my baby girl was sitting right next to me. After listening for maybe a minute, I restarted the song & asked her to stop what she was doing and listen to it very carefully. When she saw my eyes "leaking", she instantly knew why daddy wanted her to listen and our already amazing bond became a little bit stronger. Thank you so much for that Sully Erna. This will FOREVER be our song 💞

I dedicate this song to my miracle girl. She's my all, my light, my everything. She helped me get through some tough times. While pregnant I almost lost her due to Domestic Violence. The sperm-donor (my ex) tried killing me, and I suffered significant damage not only to my body, but my mind and soul. My daughter was born prematurely, and spent time in the NICU, but like her momma, she's a fighter. Seven years later the two of us are happy, healthy and safe. 💜

I just shared this song that I dearly love as a tribute to my late Mother, who passed, peacefully in her home, 6 years yesterday on that date in 2018, right before my birthday. Her name was Trula. I have no siblings or children. I know my mother was one of the many great Mom's GOD made. I know it was written for the love of a child. And I know she would love it. The lyrics, the melody, the video in itself makes me smile, and I know it would have her smiling too with happy tears in her eyes, just like mine now. 🥹🥲 My Mom was My Light.
