Ohhh there it is! This is how the end begins! Sady i have no time to write a long comment right now! But it will happen very soon! So i just say: Thank you for all your hard work. The editing, planing and writing on these vids must have been hard. Especially doing all the research and downloading several Interviews. Is it just me or have your editing skills improved? Watching this vid made me feel exhausted cause i felt the hard work behind it. (Sry my English hasnt improve, but i'm doing my breast....eh best.) "I cant wait" to share my opinion on the Album. It will be a long book. 😆

@@andhedrewbees Okay, just finished. Gotta say first off that we have very similar opinions about some songs here, Landmines especially. However, here’s the odd thing I can’t shake about Deryck’s “Oh, I wrote these for another artist” comments: I feel like a lot of these tracks melodically fit more in tune with a Gob album, especially bits of Dopamine, Not Quite Myself & Bad Mistake. It makes me wonder how much stuff was left over from Tom’s work over the years on Muertos Vivos & Apt. 13…. and if Deryck repurposed it like he had Panic Attack into Screaming Bloody Murder. This also rings true for one Hell track, but we’ll get to that when we get to it. Overall though, you made a fair assessment of what this album brings to the table: Not everything lands but what does land is terrific.
@andhedrewbees
@andhedrewbees Ай бұрын
Well, I didn't really hear much of a Gob sound in these tracks myself, but in all fairness, I'm not as familar with the Gob discography. However, "House of Liars" is the only song on Heaven x Hell where Tom is given writing credit, so that might dissprove your theory. Still, I think that's interesting point to make and Gob was an influence on Deryck/Sum 41, so maybe subconciously some Gob-isms came to the surface.

I’m glad to see this video is finally out! I just want to express my thoughts and give some other facts! 1. Deryck made the bold claim that this was their best record. Chuck is my favorite album of all time so for me that was a really big take and partially why I felt somewhat disappointed with the album even though I really liked it. 2. I do think the pop punk hooks are mostly strong on this side of the album and that was the main thing I was looking forward to, but you kind of have a point where you say that they are pretty sparse. I think this side of the album is mostly very solid pop punk, but not close to all killer. 3. The lyrical aspect was honestly my biggest worry for this side of the album. While I’m ok with some youthful lyrics, old pop punk bands overstep and end up writing the most diabolically bad lyrics known to man (blink 182’s edging). While there isn’t anything too horrible or even bad on here, there are some noticeable goofy moments. I was hoping for some “pieces” quality in one or two songs. 4. The abrupt endings weren’t an issue for me until “how the end begins”…..oh christ… Overall, while I do like the Heaven side a lot, there does seem to be some things lacking and while I don’t fully agree with you on everything, I can definitely see your point of view. Very solid video, can’t wait for part 2 :D

Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed the video. To response to each of your points: 1. Yeah, my fav Sum 41 albums are Does This Look Infected and Chuck. (they're tied for me) Although, I kinda understand why Deryck thinks it's their best. Though I'll eloborate more on that in part 2 2. There are some really solid hooks and melodies on the Heaven side, but the album really did leave me wanting more in many ways. 3. Yeah, I was also worried about the lyrics myself. I'm glad they weren't too gen-z ish. And while they weren't outstanding, they were definitely compotent. 4. Oh, I have some choice words for that track and it's ending ha. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the album/video. I always enjoy hearing the viewpoints of other sum 41 fans. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Hell side in part 2!

Good to have you back my man!! I remembered you when I listened to the album! Btw im Adam Sheema if you remember! :D Rebranded since then. Cant wait for the other vid! Im curious to hear how you feel about some songs in HELL, i was so glad that they finally discovered the concept of breakdowns. Edit: so now that ive watched the video, i have to say, i really missed these. this video was really fun and engaging. usually i just put youtube on background and go clean or play videogames, but here i just sat and watched. the prophecy bit and your frustration with the ''landmines trilogy'' were really funny. and yeah, though i really like a lot of these songs on a surface level, i have to agree with you that theyre simple and often feel written by someone who just rushed to make a song because they had to, not out of passion or creativity like songs on all killer or half hour. same with the titles. even, screaming bloody murder had some really creative bits like the dark road trilogy and overlapping tracks, which kinda bugs me sums dont do anymore, its one of my favourite things, where a track leads into the next. it gets frustrating because ''dammit band i want to like these and i know you know how to do it!''. But i suppose i was happy with it in the end, if they went out with an album like 13 voices, i would be really sad. loved the video

The News that Sum 41 will disband really hit me. It felt like a break up with me out of nowhere. My heart was broken. I was sad, then i got angry. Then i lost interest in the Band for a while, cause i wanted to forget them (like a ex girlfriend xD) My expectations. Even though i really like 13 Voices and Order in Decline, i was very very disappointed at first in both Albums. Especially OID felt uninspired & uncreative, it was overproduced and the Lyrics were for the most part bad or uninteresting...and only 10 songs? C'mon.... So my expectations for HxH werent as high anymore. In my opinion HxH has its flaws, and decisions were made that i cant understand. But in my opinion its a improvement over the last two Albums. Btw. the production on this Album is sooo good! It sound so much better than 13 Voices and OID. I also love the Double Album aspect. Its awesome to have 20...(18?) Songs and a lot of variety. But this Album also showed me once again why i love Screaming Bloody Murder so much. Even though HxH has 20 songs and is a double Album, it didnt felt like a journey to me.. There arent many surprises. Many Songs dont feel authentic cause they arent even written for Sum 41. And almost every Song follows the same - intro Riff, verse, chorus, verse, Chorus, bridge/solo, final Chorus - structure. the lyrics repeating lines from previous Albums....its very clear that Deryck has nothing new to say anymore. And why in the hell is there a Cover Song on the Hell side??? Why does How the end begins, end so abruptly???? God it was frustrating. But for the most part i was satisfied...Not blown away, but satisfied.
@andhedrewbees
@andhedrewbees Ай бұрын
Yeah, Heaven x Hell is at the very least a more interesting release than the last couple of albums. Again, I love this double album concept for Sum 41, but I do have some issues with it's execution. However, I don't wanna give too much away about my overall opinions or my thoughts on the Hell side though. I'm saving that for part 2 ha.

@BenSlashes Ай бұрын
About the Heaven side. I agree with you on almost everything. But i dont see it as harsh as you I think. I wasnt a fan of Waiting on a Twist of Fate at first. But it really grow on me. The only thing i dislike is the Chorus. Its kinda boring. I liked the litte bridge..The song sounds like Half Hour Of Power. A heavier version of Summer. I like Landmines but I dont love it. It really needed a Riff and surprises. But the Chorus is really great and i like the Ohoos. I cant wait is a fun little song but i have nothing to say about it. Could have been more, but its fine. Time wont wait. Kinda the same as Landmines but not as memorable 🤔 but i also like it. Future Primitive is great and i wish it was a bit longer. Dopamine. I hate this word and everytime he says it i could roll my Eyes. Whyyyy whyyyy Was this the fourth Single?? It makes nooo sense. This doesnt sound like Sum 41 at all. That being said, its good enough. I dont hate it, but its my least favorite. Lyrics can improve a Song. This is one of those songs. The Lyrics are so relateable to me...almost reminds me on Screaming Bloody Murder, the Song. One thing that annoys me on this Album is the repetetive way a song starts. Like you mentioned....when it started i already thought...."oh boy really? again? Why cant it start with a good Riff?" But i really like this song. One of my favorites from Heaven. Bad Mistake. The biggest surprise to me.... I LOVE THIS SONG. Its maybe my favorite Song from the whole Album. Deryck put so much more emotions in his Voice on this song. I can feel his frustrating with this person, it also sounds a bit funny. I love the pre Chorus and especially the Chorus is so much fun. The part before the Solo is probably my favorite part. And the Solo!!! Its so good. Reminded me on The Hell Song, but i wish it was longer. This is in my opinion one of their best Songs ever and it isnt even a Heavy song. Johnny Libertine. Goddamn this was so refreshing. A song that starts very fast....and not slow. In my opinion this song ist necessarily a great song, but for the Album its very refreshing and important. Radio Silence. I loved the Song at first....but for some reason i like it less and less the more i listen to it. Is this Song about a relationship or about someone who is dead? If its just a boring relationship story then i'm out.... BUT the song is still good and has more to offer than Catching Fire. I think the Chorus is very strong and it gets stronger at the end. Overall i really like Heaven. Yeah it could be more authentic, more creative at times. It needed more Riffs. But i enjoyed it. I probably would rather listen to Heaven than AKNF or Underclass Hero...AKNF to me is mostly just really boring and i cant tell you how much i hate Fat Lip and this repetetive Riff xD and Underclass Hero is cool, has great Songs, but its also very long and has some Songs that arent very enjoyable. Heaven is well paced, and i enjoy every Song. Even if its not very authentic or Sum 41 like at times. It needed more songs like Waiting on a Twist of Fate or Future Primitive.
@andhedrewbees
@andhedrewbees Ай бұрын
Yeah, I think we generally share a lot of opinions on this album. Of course, I understand I'm a bigger fan of Sum 41's pop punk material than you ha. Though I find it interesting and kind of suprising that you enjoy Heaven more than AKNF and Underclass Hero. I also enjoy the Heaven side but not that much. It's strange to think a Sum 41 album could use some more Sum 41 sounding songs, but here we are ha But even though I wanted more out of the Heaven side in multiple ways, I'm happy to hear Sum 41 release new pop punk style material since it's been quite a while.
