I LOVE "Noots" and "Subject To Change." The later always gives me the chills whenever I listen to it. I would also like to point out that the chorus sounds like a rough demo for "Underclass Hero", specifically for the chorus--it's like a minor key version of it!

Yeah, everybody seems to love Noots. They'd probably love it even more if Sum 41 would play the song live ha. Sadly, bonus tracks dont make it to the setlists. Given my theory that "Subject to Change" is a demo of "No Reason," I never really thought of it as a demo itself, but that's a fair way to look at it. I guess Deryck saw potential in the song's chorus and didn't want it to go to waste as a bonus track.

I absolutely love Sum 41s bonus tracks; I possibly listen to them more than the actual albums lmao. Idk what it is, it's like the dessert after a great savory meal and they're just amazing ❤❤❤❤ Also I am surprised, I thought I knew everything there was to know about Sum 41 and their bonus tracks, but you absolutely proved me wrong! So cool. I did not know Chuck acoustic edition was a thing I'm going to buy it now thanks!

Being from the uk and thus having the uk version of Chuck and Underclass, I always forget that Noots and No Apologies are classed as bonus tracks and not just the standard closing tracks for their respective records. Plus always get them confused since Deryck literally sings "no apologies" in the chorus of Noots haha. Scrapping that one to make room for We're All To Blame makes sense, but I definitely agree it's one of their absolute best, that chorus rocks! PS that clip of Cone singing "it's not me" got me good lmao
@andhedrewbees

Yeah, it's weird for me to think of Noots as a closing track, when 88 feels way more like a proper finale to an album. But that's the interesting thing about these different releases, what's weird to one person is the standard for somebody else. Also, yeah Noots rocks ha.

Thanks for making this video! finally some appreciation for all these great songs. Noots got me into Sum 41 and im still waiting for them to play it live at some point. I asked deryck at a show back in 2019 if they will ever play it Live, he said maybe some day but he doesn´t know himself.😅

My Favorites are: 1. Always. One of THE best Songs for me. The bridge is great. 2. Subject to Change. I love this Song. Can they please make more Songs like this?? (But with a more fitting Chorus) 3. Moron. Its short an sweet. I love the guitars and Derycks Voice Btw. Jessica Kill is great

In response to your favourites: 1. ALWAYS: Im honestly suprised to see this as your favourite bonus track. From your previous comments, you didnt seem like a big fan of Sum 41's Pop Punk material. Im guessing you like the track for it's grandeur. The bridge in particular is pretty huge sounding. 2. SUBJECT TO CHANGE: Now this one is no suprise to me ha. And yeah, it's a pretty kickass tune. (With a somewhat out of a place chorus). 3. MORON: Wouldn't have guessed this be in your top 3, but I guess sometimes short and sweet is the way to go. And I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about Jessica Kill ha.

@@andhedrewbees 1. 'Always' doesnt Sound like Pop Punk to me. The Guitars are way too heavy. I call it a emotional fast Rock Song. 2. If the Chorus would be better it would be the Nr.1 😄 especially the bridge is really great. 3. Yeah. Black Eyes was almost my Number 3, but i'm not a fan of the first 55 seconds of the Song. Noots is also great.

I honestly liked the aggression in the chorus for subject to change more than its underclass hero counter parts because I feel the emotion behind it a lot more but I’m aware this is an unpopular opinion

@@andhedrewbees No worries brother! Wanted to bring this up since the topic is on bonus tracks. As huge fans of The Sums, sadly we can recognise any little hint of plagiarism in the band's songwriting (And it's pretty common). There's a couple of videos on youtube about it, but one song I want to share is Moron. The Used's Choke Me has a similar chord progression+structure which was hard to ignore.... Maybe u can check it out if u haven't already!

Bonus tracks ranked: 1. Noots 2. The rest All of Chuck's bonus tracks are bops tbh. Outside of Chuck I really only enjoy We're The Same (wish they would have swapped it out with that awful song - Baby You Don't Wanna Know). Another great video as Always (pun intended I suppose). I was actually surprised that Noots was a bonus track (it doesn’t indicate it’s a bonus track on Spotify, it just appears at the end). Tbh it fit perfectly at the end of the record as a nice happy ending to the album after three heavier feeling songs (whether in terms of music or lyrics). Noots is such a good song and easily my favorite out of the chuck bonus tracks.

Take a Look at Yourself must have been some kind of self aware experiment that Sum41 did where they took other songs and mashed them into one single track, played in their style. Even if they came out saying that it was all coincidences I would simply not believe it.

It feels like Deryck went on a interpolation rampage, trying to cram elements from various punk tracks he enjoyed & then worked on making them fit the Sum 41 sound. I personally feel he succeeded myself.

Are you exited for Heaven & Hell? And what are you more exited for, The Pop Rock Side or the Heavy Side?
@andhedrewbees
@andhedrewbees 2 жыл бұрын
Oh definitely. Personally, I'm really interested to see what they do for the "Heaven" Side. From interviews I've read, I think it will be (or at least a few tracks) in a skate punk style like NOFX or Lagwagon. Deryck mentioned playing those kinds of bands for his kid. And I love that style of fast melodic punk. I hope it will be like Modern Matured Sum 41's take on their old sound. I'm imagining it being the speed and energy of Half Hour of Power mixed with the musical layers and harmonies of Underclass Hero. For me, the biggest crime they could commit, is if they try to sound like the current wave of pop punk. But from what I know of the band, I don't think they will. For the "Hell" side, I feel like it's gonna follow in the footsteps of "Order in Decline" and have tracks in that style. Im sure it will be some solid stuff, but idk if it's gonna be anything totally new for the band. But hopefully it is. Sorry if this response is long winded ha. I have a lot of thoughts on the upcoming album.

@@andhedrewbees i agree. I'm normaly not the biggest Pop Rock Fan, but i'm interested in the heaven side and how it will Sound. I hope they have some bangers like Walking Disaster, In too Deep or Make no difference. Cone said the Hell side sounds almost like Thrash Metal, sounds promising. But i hope the Songs will be a bit more creative, with some surprises (ala 88) and please better Lyrics 🙏.
