SUMBAWA - The Way Overland - Episode 18

This week we’re catching the local ferry to the next island, Sumbawa.
First on the agenda is Lakey Peak on the south coast. It’s a relaxed surfing village where pretty much all there is to do is just that, surf! A bit of a contrast to Flores where it was pretty action packed, it was a nice change of pace! There’s a few great breaks here including; Nangadora, Cobblestone, Lakey Pipe, Lakey Peak, Nungas and Periscopes.
After a week or so just hanging out here next to Fat Mah’s cafe we headed west to another surf spot, Sekongkang aka Yoyo’s. We found a nice little spot in a random park area next to the beach to camp. Unfortunately the area was pretty messy with lots of rubbish that had been washed up from the ocean, so a quick clean up of the area was in order! The weather wasn’t really on our side for our time in Sekongkang though we managed to get a few hours of sunshine in. We had the cameras ready to go!
I spoke about our custom fly screen for the rear doors which I highly recommend investing in if you’re in the market. Doug from Top Gear 2 Go who is located in Queensland, Australia, was really helpful in getting the right product made up for us before we left Australia. Beautiful. Did you get some fun surf in? Any comment on the mustache over there? When I was working in Bali they called me "Kumis Panjang" or long whiskers. It took me a while to figure our what they were saying haha.

Sure did, surf in Lakey was awesome. Unfortunately we lucked out a bit in the west and it was pretty sloppy. Ha the moustache was only temporary while in Lakey, everyone there seems to rock one so no comments from the locals. Just family back home.
