They were victorious. But Enkidu fell to the ground, struck down by the gods, and Gilgamesh wept bitter tears saying: "He who was my companion, through adventure and hardship... is gone forever."

Dude thank you man, I know I've said it so many times but what you do is so wonderful. I love ASMR. and now have to use it to fall asleep. I love stories, I'm obsessed w history, ancient history the most. And this legend takes all this and puts it together! I get to fall to fall sleep listening to a great soft french voice telling me a story or stories of history and so many interesting topics. And it's free! I love this channel and will support it always. I'm having health issues and not working at the moment so this helps more then anyone can know. If I could donate I would God bless everyone! The story of Gilgamesh is a tragedy. Two men, wild and uncivilized in their own ways, become friends and learn to love life and live it to the fullest until one dies tragically. The other is forced to grapple with the devastation of death, travelling through the stages of grief until finally reaching acceptance. I wonder how many other great stories of this pair were lost and how many stories from other myths may have seeds of these lost tales scattered throughout their own telling...
