OFFICIAL LYRICS: A shadow in these walls... Yes that is all I am A prison deep under fortress grounds where they spill the blood of man A second chance at life is all I've dreamed of For now inside these walls I stay Sitting far away, I watch the blackness grow Never mind what is underneath the stone It's a life we're living all alone Step out in the rain and feel the deep sorrow Light is calling from the narrow road Sometimes kindness speaks in tongues with one of them I can see love in her eyes If I fall, death will never stain one of his hands I find safety in these lies A second chance at life is all I've dreamed of For now inside these walls I stay Sitting far away, I watch the blackness grow Never mind what is underneath the stone This life we live alone Step out in the rain and feel the deep sorrow Light is calling from the narrow road The chains are part of me Stale air is all I breathe down here I need to find a way I'm gonna find my way far from here... Another chance at life is fading slowly Upon the cross I burn Sitting far away, I watch the blackness grow Never mind what is underneath the stone This life we live alone Step out in the rain and feel the deep sorrow Light is calling from the narrow road

Look, I'm a musician, and having listened to both Alpha and Omega, I can honestly say this band is overflowing with talent. The vocals, contrary to all the haters' opinions, are top notch. Spencer has a very raw and unfiltered air about his singing that is very refreshing. It's a welcome departure from all the edited and mechanized singers we hear today. Ten years from now, I believe people will appreciate these albums as masterpieces. Just wait and see.

@codylujan7 жыл бұрын
I just want to take a second and just remind everyone how much of a "diamond in the rough" Spencer is. He has one of the most extensive ranges for a male rock singer amd hits them with ease and in live performances. No other singer could pull this off the way Spencer can. His voice is pure gold. He has such depth, emotion and immersion in his voice. If Spencer ever decided to quit singing just because of all the criticism, i'd lose it. Spencer is by far my favorite singer and my personal idol. He fits the Periphery sound perfectly. I honestly don't know what I'd do not hearing Spencer anymore. He can pull off almost any sound. Pop, rock, jazz, punk, emo, harcore, anything. He's a ball of pure talent.

I'm so sick and tired of people complaining about Spencer's vocals. Sure, his voice may not be as deep or masculine as all you meathead monkeys would like, but as a vocalist myself, I think what he does is phenomenal. To have that much range in clean AND screamed vocals takes so much more talent than he's given credit for. And it kind of makes no sense to complain about him cause he's been their vocalist since Periphery I, so don't act so pissed about something you already knew would happen. If you don't like it, don't listen. Simple

This song is surprisingly epic as all hell. The slow tempo building ever so slightly until a sweet rift comes piercing out, mixed with some heavy chugs and a brilliantly used voice that can reach most high guitar notes. Im gonna be honest, i wasn't completely happy with this new album my first listen, but the more i listen the more i realize how amazing and diverse Alpha and Omega are. I feel like i must listen to Periphery's music a few times through to fully understand and feel what exactly they were going for. Almost like reading a hard book, you get more out of it after you read it a few time. Heres to Periphery, the hard books of music.

@cgoodiefunk8 жыл бұрын
yea Mynn, words like "best" or "better" can't really be applied to music realistically - especially with a band like Periphery. Their evolution through successive album releases only displays the diversity of their music through their years, making it simply impossible to compare albums or even songs from each album. This is why I think people LOVE this band - they don't release anything unlikable! They sport many different sounds, even within a single album (Juggernaut, for example). Every song on every album has substantial girth, both in melody and DJENT.

Honestly the more I listen to this song (and both albums in general) the more I come to appreciate what Spencer's doing. Sure at the beginning I was skeptical like everyone else about his certain...nasally tone. But after giving Alpha/Omega a few more listens he's really gone far beyond his scope in P1 or P2 (even if it isn't in the direction some of us want) but its starting to grow on me. I think more people need to come at the albums with an open mind to both the instruments AND the vocals. 2cents

I don't think Spencer's vocals are downright terrible like some people think, in fact sometimes I think he sounds a bit like Darryl Palumbo, who I (and many others) consider a fantastic vocalist. But ultimately I don't think he's the best fit for Periphery. I think he's a perfect fit for FFTL actually, I'd rather see him just drop Periphery and dedicated 100% of his time to FFTL while letting Periphery find a vocalist who fits better with their prog/tech style.
