Theres that saying "third times a charm" and boy have ATB come out swinging with this album. With the start of the new year and untimely death of Rhythm guitarist Justin Lowe, it seemed like the remaining members wanted to make a statement album regarding death and all those emotions one faces dealing with the aftermath of losing someone close. Despite only 9 songs on the album, each song is just as hard hitting as the one before. Songs like Laurentian Ghosts, Catacombs, The Endless March, Sway of the Break, show the bands maturity/creativity while songs like Collapse, Lost in the Static, Deluge and Mire will bring a tear to any longtime fan who has been there since the beginning. From several interviews I've watched, it definitely seems like the remaining members made this album as a Eulogy to the loss of Justin, and if this is true it surely is a brilliant testament to there comrade who contributed so much before his untimely death. My personal favorite tracks are Collapse and Laurentian Ghosts while the two breakout songs that show the bands progression, influence and technicality are Heavy Lies the Ground ( ending sounds like a love letter to Meshuggah) and Catacombs. Last but not least, the production value is top notch, each instrument is placed perfectly creating a groove that any metal head or newcomer for that matter will have no trouble head-banging too. I'm a sucker for great metal albums(which is hard to find the past years with so many bands trying to achieve the same sound/stealing the sound from another), maybe its also good timing but After the Burial have put out something magical.. you know an album is special when it strikes a chord emotionally whether you can relate to it personally or just want in on the ride, you won't be disappointed.. I can't stress it enough, if you are looking for an unapologetic face-melter then just Dig Deep. Best way to experience album: good sound system, car stereo, headphones(to appreciate all the little nuances you can't hear on KZbin/computer) Rating: ******(8)/********(10) this is a fantastic album and only reason its not rated higher is because it's still way too early to decide if it is a game changer for the genre, or what its impact will have years down the line.. Rareform and Forging a Future Self have both had a great shelf life so you never know.. Just some albums I consider rated 9/10 : Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" or "The Wall" Megadeath "Rust in Peace" or "Peace Sells.. But Who's Buying" Led Zeppelin "any album: preferably from first to last also known as the Mecca of Metal" Judas Priest "British Steel" Motley Crue "Too Fast for Love" Pantera "Vulgar Display of Power" or "The Great Southern Trendkill" Kiss "Destroyer" Alice in Chains "Dirt" or "Unplugged" Black Sabbath "Paranoid" or "Master of Reality" Ozzy "Blizzard of Ozz" Dio "Heaven and Hell w/ Sabbath" or "Holy Diver" Mayhem "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" Iron Maiden "Self Titled" Bathory "Self Titled" Korn "Self Titled" Metallica "Kill Em All" or "Master of Puppets" Death "Human" Anthrax "Among the Living" Tool "Lateralus" Motorhead "Ace of Spades" System of a Down "Toxicity" Nofx "Punk in Drublick" Refused "The Shape of Punk to Come" The Offspring "Smash" or "Americana" Bad Religion "Suffer" Meshuggah "Destroy Erase Improve" or "Chaosphere" In Flames "The Jester Race/Clayman" or "Soundtrack to your Escape" Ramones "Rocket to Russia" Social Distortion "Self Titled" Descendents "Milo Goes to College" Misfits "Walk Among Us" Bad Brains "Bad Brains" The Clash "Self Titled" Velvet Underground "Self Titled" Green Day "Dookie" or "Nimrod" The Damned "The Damned The Damned" AFI "The Art of Drowning" or "Sing the Sorrow" Sex Pistols "Never mind the Bullocks..." Van Halen "Self Titled" Queen "A Day at the Races" or "A Night at the Opera" Nirvana "Nevermind" The Who "Who's Next" ACDC "Back in Black" The Eagles "Any live album" or "Hotel California" The Red Hot Chili Peppers "Californication" or "Blood Sex Sugar Majic" Radiohead "Ok Computer" or "Kid A" The Kinks "Self Titled" Yes "Close to the Edge" Fleetwood Mac "Rumors" Grateful Dead "American Beauty" Muse "Absolution" Or "Black Holes and Revelations" Jethro Tull "Aqualung" Or "Thick as a Brick" Cream "Disraeli Gears" or "Wheels of Fire" The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" Rush "Moving Pictures" The Beatles "Any Album" The Rolling Stones "Any Album" Dead Kennedy's "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables" Minor Threat "Out of Step" or "Self Titled" Converge "Jane Doe" Germs "GI" or "Germicide" Suicidal Tendencies "The Art of Rebellion" or "Self Titled" Fugazi "Repeater" or "Steady Diet of Nothing" GlassJaw "Everything you ever wanted to know about silence" Poison the Well "Distance only makes the heart grow fonder" Black Flag "Damaged" or "My War" Between the Buried and Me "Alaska" or "Colors" Linkin Park "Hybrid Theory" From Autumn to Ashes "Too bad your beautiful" or "The Fiction we Live" Thursday "Full Collapse" Strung Out "Another Day in Paradise" or "Twisted by Design" Me First and the Gimme Gimmes "Are we not men? We are Diva" or "Have a Ball" New Found Glory "Self Titled" or "Sticks and Stones" Finch "A Far Cry From Home" Blink 182 "Dude Ranch" or "Enema of the State" Brand New "Deja Entendu" or "The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me" Built to Spill "Perfect from now on" or "keep it like a secret" Sunny Day Real Estate "Self Titled" Slipknot "Self Titled" Suicide Silence "The Cleansing" or "No Time to Bleed" As I Lay Dying "Frail Worlds Collapse" or "Shadows are Security" Trivium "Ascendancy" Avenged Sevenfold "Waking the Fallen" or "Nightmare" Kyuss "Blues for the Red Sun" or "Wretch" Dream Theater "Metropolis Pt.2" Ant'sRants

Nah. Justin can never be replaced. The only people I could see joining ATB live is Charles Caswell (Berried Alvie, ex Reflections) or Josh Travis.

Lol. Reminds me of the cheesy 2000's graphics that Born of Osiris used in their music video "Illuminate". Sick fucking song though!

That last section of the song is the right amount of unpredictable. Not too chug chug CHuuuuuh. Chuhgga chuggaaa and not too "1001 00 10001 0010 1111 100 100" Its tasty. ;D
