Just maybe, the chick is laying heaps quickly, the girls are filling the box quickly, and the Polar bear might not have been keeping up with the girls as they rock on? = Lets swarm out and find that BBM who will look after us LOL! They are hauling in the goods, maybe you need to make peace with them lol! Cheers for the fun and sharing the video! Stay safe!

It's no wonder they are swarming my friend...give them some room already lol

I was told, during a flow, if you remove their honey stores it reduces the want to swarm

The old queen usually leaves with the first swarm so the original hive will most likely have a daughter, and the other swarm next to it may also. Daughter only has half genetics of mother and workers less again as daughters more likely to mate with unrelated drones. Not surprising that these two hives now behaving quite differently than when the mother queen was laying - genetics quite different.

Gday bbm well both those queens seem to be laying better than mine i did an inspection the other day ok there was capped brood but only larvea on the last three frames i dont know wheather she is going to be replaced but i think i found a superceadure cell with a larvea in it so il have to check again im of two minds if to disturb them or not again ,honey super is good being a nubee is not fun .

Just wondering if you should remove the wax from under the frames or leave it there? I often do remove it as well as what’s on top of the frames under the lid. I would normally add another super as I’m thinking they need the room. Would that be right? Th Thanks TrickyTrev 👍👍🐝🐝🐝

One might also say bees that like to swarm are counter productive too.

What’s the difference between sweat bees and honey bees? Are those sweat bees?

As a bee keeper just wondering why you have so much room built in to the lids of your hives, they seem to allow the bees to make a mess of things for you? is it to allow for ventilation ?

Well, if bees never swarmed, we'd only have one colony. Keeping bees from swarming is like keeping teenagers under control, and for the same reason. Every species that has survived has a reproductive drive, and swarming is the bees expression of that. You can create an artificial swarm (split), give them plenty of space, or even get brutal on inspections and remove/destroy queen cells to minimise swarming, but if they never swarm, they are a doomed branch of the genetic tree. Those ones look to be so successful that they are filling the space quicker than you are providing it, so are driven to reproduce. I'd call that good, as long as you can keep up with supering them or swapping out capped frames for empty ones, but they are hard workers, which is a great trait (and much better than most teenagers).

I wonder if your honey bees may eventually do this too, it was australian bees doing it after all: www.scientificamerican.com/gallery/australian-bees-were-seen-foraging-at-twilight-for-first-time/
