SUMMER BASS FISHING A NEW LAKE (CRYSTAL LAKE, IL) DROP SHOT!

My summer bass fishing efforts continue during my road trip to Chicago. I snuck away from the in-laws for a couple of hours to do a little bass fishing at the Three Oaks Recreation Area on Crystal Lake in IL. It was a short drive to see what kind of bass fishing Illinois had to offer, and it did not disappoint! Crystal Lake is appropriately named with it's crystal clear water, so the drop shot was the obvious weapon of choice. It found me a quick limit of chunky bass & now I know a great spot to fish for my next visit to in-laws!

I hit up Three Oaks earlier this year and tried to stick to shore with only minimal luck. Next time I'll rent a boat too. You've got great videos and you're good at explaining (I'm not so much). Keep up the good filming.

I did some drop shotting couple weeks back I still have to work with it but I'm getting better. I've always used it as a vertical presentation and I've done well with it. I just haven't done well casting it.

I really need to try drop shotting I've only tried once or twice cuz i dont have many places that it's really possible with weeds and junk. Just moved though and there's a pond with smallies only so it's gotta be deep and rocky I would think

Hey Cornell, I'm trying to beet my pb before summer ends. What's your opinion on what I should do? I'm planning on using big 10-14 inch worms (Texas rigged), some jigs, and maybe some swim baits. Spinner baits seem to get me good size, but drop shot and wacky worm gets me more quantity. So what baits/rigs/techniques would you recommend me doing to beat my pb kinda fast? My pb isn't huge, kinda embarrassed to say it but it's only 3.61 lbs. so I don't need something huge to break my pb. So if you could respond it would be amazing! Thanks!

It's sounds like you've got all bases covered! Any of those baits could get your new PB and time on the water will make it happen. Everyday is different on the water, so there's no way could tell you which bait to use exclusively. Just keep hamming them and fish as much as possible. It will happen! Good luck...

This is NOT Crystal Lake. This is an old gravel pit in the TOWN of Crystal Lake. The lake the town is named for is about 15 min west of here. I grew up there, I ought to know.
