A great hairstyle I use for swimming is a braided bun (it's so easy!) It does create a few flyaways after a while but otherwise it stays put. I have quite long, thick hair, so it also prevents my hair dripping down my back or other awkward places!

As a sailing instructor I live in salt water wether it be spray from the powerboat or swimming with the kids I find I don’t have time to fix my hair during the day and that I have to wash it everyday between the salt water and sweat it just feels disgusting. I discovered the herbal essences Mercela water shampoo from one of your videos a few years ago and it’s amazing with the salt water with out drying to much. I try not to wash my hair on my day off to try and help as well. Once or twice a week I’ll put a bunch of oil in my hair and braid it and it does make a difference I have thin but wavy frizzy bleached hair so oil is great. I used to bring a leave in conditioner for days I do a pony tail but stoped for some reason I should start bringing that again

I have super fine hair that has ringlet curls/ super defined waves that don't like to stay cute. The bumble and bumble UV spray is great for UV protection and it doesnt weigh down my curls. I can tell its working because my naturally blonde hair hasn't gotten any lighter and the bright red I add doesnt fade as fast as it has previous summers.

When I was younger, my hair used to turn green when I went into the pool. My mom would get that out by mixing baking powder with warm water and massaging it into my hair. I would let it sit for like 10 minutes then wash it out in the shower.

I LOVE the Kristin ESS Line. I always use her leave in conditioner, and the take a little bit of her recovery balm in my palms and just apply it to the last 4 or 5 inches of my hair after it's towel dried. IT HAS LITERALLY SAVED MY HAIR. My hair has always been on the drier side, and moisturizing it has changed the game.

Ohh! this made me nostalgic. When I was little my grandma would always tell me to get my hair wet under the pool rinse shower things before i got in, then rinse my hair after I swam to make sure my hair wouldnt turn green XD I always got those shampoos that were meant to be used after swimming to wash away chlorine, I wonder why you never see adult versions of those at the store. Meh, i still use the kid ones anyway XD never too old for cute shampoo.

I've already been following virtually all the advise in this video, and after a month of swim team my wavy hair is still pretty darn healthy! So, everyone, listen to Kayley--she knows what she's talking about, especially washing without shampoo--I suggest mixing 1 part apple cider vinegar, 1 part water and 2 parts conditioner to make a chlorine-removing conditioner-cleanser-thing.

Usually a braided bun is enough. It's flat enough to be tucked into a swimming cap. If you feel fancy you can also try the tucked French braid. Check igorsbelltower.blogspot.com for really flat buns for extra thick hair.

The matrix sunsorials set does wonders for my long dry hair when in the sun and for the pool. I use the protective spray before exposure and then the shampoo and leave in conditioner. A bit on the pricey side, but is the only thing I've found which stops my hair from getting crispy after swimming!

During these 2 covid years, my hair just got back to its old length (reaches the booty) and I was so afraid to go on a very exciting vacation soon. Thanks for the tips, I feel way more relaxed now! I usually wash my hair only once a week so I was super anxious of having to wash it every day when we go swimming. But leave-in conditioner and/or rinse&condition with an occassional mask seem like good alternatives. Thank youuuu 😍

I have fine hair but a LOT of it and i keep it in, like, a bob-meets-pixie style. I swear by soaking my hair in water before getting in the pool or ocean or lake! I’ve never added oil on top of that - because I keep my hair short it gets trimmed regularly and the water soak does the trick for chlorine but I think I’m definitely going to add an oil with it next time I go to the beach because my hair and salt are arch-rivals.

Have you ever gone somewhere so humid that your hair never dried? That was my experience in Cozumel last summer. Now that I know about humectants, I would switch up my products, but I don't know if that and the shea build up is what did it or if my hair was just going to stay wet in a place where people are constantly perspiring.

Great info I swim in a pool 5 days a week for fitness. I have long curly dyed hair. My hair is obviously very dry. I use a pre swim conditioner, a swim cap, I rinse within 5 minutes of getting out of the pool. I use a post swim shampoo once a week and condition my hair after every swim, deep conditioning about once a week. I use a leave- in conditioner daily. What else can I do to give it moisture, shine and body?
