I'm sorry if John Sebastian ain't there it ain't the Spoonful. Nothing against those guys they're all terrific.

Unfortunately, John Sebastian lost his singing voice, though he was asked to join this band, but refused.

Thank you Spoonful!!

Joe Butler was always the equal to John Sebastian as a singer except that Butler is perhaps more versatile. He does an excellent job of imitating Sebastian's old vocals here.

Not the same without John Sebastian’s unique voice. Just another cover band now if that now. Sorry but that’s just hearing what hear along with many others that really dug the original group.

How many original members? Just wondering as most look to young
@4Barbe6 жыл бұрын
Well, Joe Butler (on autoharp here) and Steve Boone (on bass guitar) were originals, then Jerry Yester (far right) replaced Zal in '67.

Barbara E. Hunteman thanks for the info

Surely :-) Agreed, they do look young :-)

Barbara E. Hunteman the guy on autoharp was he the drummer originally. I've looked at clips from the 60's and he looks very similar. I'm not sure if these guys were that big in England. You only ever hear summer in the city and very rarely daydream on the radio over here but I've been listening to some of there other stuff and it's really good. It was way before I was born so I guess they could of been well known here at the time

Yes, the fellow on the autoharp was the original drummer, Joe Butler. I think he has a great voice! The Lovin ' Spoonful is my second favorite band next to the Beatles. The Spoonful was really big in the States in '65 and '66, but then they disbanded in '68. So glad youtube is available, so you can appreciate their awesome music! :-)
