I have the Stam ssl clone and it is excellent. Does exactly what it's supposed to. You have to be patient with them, but it's well worth the wait.

Respect to mixdown for covering an up and coming audio company at NAMN ....Stam gear is top notch and Josh is a visionary with a fresh approach to not only designing the gear but also his direct sales philosophy is proving to be very effective. We all get to benefit from his genius through great sounding gear and amazing prices. Not to mention Josh is a super cool guy who deserves all the success that is surely coming his way.

Taking the pleasure of writing the first comment. Stam Audio is an awesome company providing quality products at Home Studios prices. Yes! Sometimes the delays suck but that’s a small price to pay for quality. Hands down, a market revolutionary!

I never heard of them before NAMM but it seems pretty appealing, can't wait to try their products out! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for being the only one to post a video from the Stam Booth. It goes to show how other “Bloggers” have sold out or have been institutionalized by the major players in the pro audio game. Can anyone seriously say that Stam products don’t stand their ground against similarly priced products and are worthy of some attention for entry level studios to consider? In reality, because of distribution costs, a $1k product is really a $400-600 product. With Stam, you’re definitely getting a product that you paid for with an old school vibe. Personally, I’m taking advantage of purchasing a lot of his gear before demand starts increasing resulting in price increase or significant production slow down!

Stam & I aren’t best of friends lol his business practices are very respectable and he refunded me in full after I gave him a big headache! The ssl clone was decent as well aside from the wait. A lot of ppl love his gear and it’s as good or better quality than warm audio!

About the "Stamchild"" stuff,do yourself a favor,save some money so you can afford a Manley Variable Mu,that it's proven to be the best Fairchild effect from a TOP COMPANY...not from a copycat!....my two cents(by the way,I'm latino too,like Stam,nothing personal)
@mixdownonline6 жыл бұрын
Manley is great for sure, but what if the copycat sounds as good or close enough? I'm always curious...I never tried Stam's products though...Thanks for your input your 2 cents is always welcome on this channel :-)
@bradnewsom60585 жыл бұрын
I have used the Manley Vari Mu for years and I can tell you it's not like a Fairchild by any stretch of the imagination. They are alike in the topology only, not sound and function.
@HP_____3 жыл бұрын
The Fairchild has only ONE gain stage in the signal path whereas the Manley has 3 gain stages and is closer in topology to Gates Sta-Level or other 3 stage compressor without interstage transformer. One can even say the Fairchild is a minimalist design! Much portion of the components are spent heroically in the regulated power supplies and the control voltage amplifiers. So the irony is that the vintage compressor with the most parts count also happens to have the least in the signal path. One glance at the schematic is suffice to have an idea. It took a LOT of parts and work (and expense) in order to create this mutant single gain stage for compression! Of course a user can prefer one over the other sonically but bear in mind that they are not the same in topology, just saying.
