The holes on the handguard are more than just lashing to make a spear. It allows you to use 550 paracord to make D hand strap or braided hand strap.

That camouflage survival knife that you were showing that was my Rambo knife when I was a kid growing up 🤣 I had to get one ever Christmas because I always ended up breaking it CLASSIC SURVIVAL KNIFE

Haha that old hollow handle survival knife brings back memories. I was 6 or 7 years old, in my surplus BDUs with ALICE gear. Canteen, IFAK, and knife was always on my belt. Many days spent in the woods playing Rambo lol. Not much has changed in 30 years lol.

When I was a kid I had a "survival kit" that came with a blue plastic comb, presumably so you could tickle your prey to death.

I still have the FM_SRT which I bought circa 1990's...It was designed that way in case if ones fingers are hurt they could manage grip on a blade...and as a rescue tool that does not look too menacing.... also a solid stainless " Executive Ice Scraper " which I deemed it the FM_SRT Little brother.... couldnt carry them here in CA....

I love my Tahoma. I use the notch every time I cook over the fire:) The bowdrill notch is in the wrong place though so I drilled one in a different spot.

As knife maker I had to learn about heat treatments and metallurgy. Although there is nothing wrong with in the way you pick things up over a fire with a knife however long exposures to cold then heat can ruin your heat treatment and can damage your blade. Ive seen "survival experts" put their knives in hot coals to "clean them". that will destroy your knives. IMO I could love the Tahoma, just without the notch and breaker on the back. Happy trails. Thanks for watching.

You don't look so keen on Tops knives? The only thing I don't like about the Tops knives steel eagle 111A tanto is the jimping on the handle ! Apart from that it holds a edge! I use it all the time for cutting branches and I have been using it for the last 12 months and I haven't sharpened it at all ! Awesome short sword !

I use a WorkSharp guided field sharpener. Have you had any experience with those? I plan to get a SharpensBest sharpener very soon. Both are great quality. I highly recommend them. Ever heard of or handled the SOG Seal Pup? Or the Buck Selkirk? Also great knives, but the SOG isn't worth the 50$ they sell it for. Get it when it's on sale for 30$.

Nice video. I wish TOPS would bring back the Condor Alert. It's like a hybrid between the Tahoma and the Steel Eagle, but without the notches or saw. I used mine for a good while until they went out of production, now it's in my 'zombpoc' bag.

Surprised you didn't show the Grand Pappy Survival Knife, the Air Force Issue Pilots Knife. My understanding standing is that the Sawback on that was to cut an opening in the Plane's Skin in case of a Crash or through a Plexiglass Window. But over the years, someone tried to use it on Wood, then they played with it, YadaYadaYada. But whoever decided to make a Hollow Handle... Anyway, the Tahoma was designed by Andy Tran, who has designed several knives over the years. I believe he works as a Ranger/ SAR guy out West. He should be on KZbin. Check him out. But for me, those little pouches on the sheath are for holding a Sharpening Stone, maybe a Ferro Rod and some kind of Fire Starting Tinder. Everything else goes into a small belt pouch. But the Knife itself is just a Knife, w/o Saws, Hooks, Notches, etc. But that's just my opinion. Looking forward to the next episode.

Very interesting to see all the types of knives especially the last one the knuckle duster which I believe is illegal in most countries and is why you had trouble finding one. What one needs in a knife is for it to be an adequate size not two big that it is cumbersome and not too small that it is useless. The hilt or handle needs to be about 4 inches and the blade about 6 inches long with a guard between the hilt and blade so that if you stabbing your hand does not slide onto the blade. . I would prefer the standard pointed blade so you can attach the knife to a stick and use it as a spear. 6 inch blade is long enough for cutting, slicing, stabbing. Most people want a useful knife not one that specialises in one environment and you definitely do not want one that is heavy. The one I liked was your service knife when you were in the marines.

Nice video mate! I enjoy listening to your opinion on knives but seriously on most of these tops knives the designers can't really be survival instructors or experts as far as the Designs go because the is so much wasted details on these. But looks sell better I understand that ;-) keep it up

What design do you like? I mean your supposed to be showing good survival knives and almost every knife you say I don't like about everything on it. So why do you buy these blades if you don't like them and why would you make a video for survival knives if you don't like any of them? Makes no sense.

Say Heah, Great Review, sorry I got off track on my last post,. But I do have some survival knives that actually I would trust in a Survival Situation. I have the first Fox The Parang Bushcraft Jungle Knife then I got the Fox you have. Both are similar with suttle differences. One of my Fav's is my Buck Buckmaster 184, the only thing is salt water with the knurled handle tears your hands up. Then the Russian Special Forces made a 6 recurve The NB1-01, but in Russian the "B's" are "V's" so I seen them called NV1-01, not bad, Yeah, I would trust it. Then I got the Randall Made #18 with the Attack Tip, silver soldered another good one. I also got lucky and got a Bianchi, but mine is the older one The "1", It doesn't have the word Nighthawk etched on the blade, a excellent survival knife. Also way back when we hunted hogs with our Tomahawk Survival Knives, back then they were made in the U. S. A. It's still as solid as the day I bought it. Also Bokor made a copy of the original Aparro, Yeah, a solid survival knife that I batoned with, also its still very solid. F. Y. I., Dilly, Dilly.,,.p

at the beginning you struck me as a smart person, not to put water purification tabs in your survival kit, as you don't know, how long they will be on your shelf, and I can promise you, that you will need a lifetime to sell them, but as you rated the Aitor Jungle King as a good survival knife, you downgraded yourself to a 10 year old kid.
