This video is great I appreciate your honesty and knowledge of different blades

A lanyard on a shorter knife in winter where it snows heavily is supposed to give you a better chance of finding it if you drop it in deep snow or just generally it's something to put on your wrist if you're using it somewhere easier to loose it (a cliff, on a boat ect.) I've used a short lanyard to hang shorter knives on branches, that's about it.

Great Vid! I was glad to hear you praise the ESEE 4, 5 and 6. I like ESEE. No-nonsense relatively cheap hard use gear. Cool. I don't know your view on this, but my problem with "bushcraft" style blades is the handle. The design itself, no matter the maker, precludes a finger choil (like an ESEE 4). When making a hole, or starting one, you must push your knife into the wood, not having a choil makes it more dangerous. I am not a bushcraft expert, but I have been out there enough to have cut and nipped myself plenty of times. When in the field, you are not working in the ideal position all the time. In any case, you make some nice stuff my friend. Keep them coming. Awesome series. Cheers.

Out in the country I hike with a variety of knives but in city parks I have a Mora Clipper clipped inside the front pocket so not to freak people out .

Your knife design is awesome .I don't know how you choose what to take in the woods with you with that many choices I have a condor bushlore,bushcraft black and ontario sp51 and a couple others and I have almost panic attacks on which to take great collection and great videos.what northeastern state do you live in?

Mora knives in Scandinavia are more like plastic lighters, buy one because you need it for work or camping and once its dulled buy a new. The new and more expensive knives Mora are making now and some of their old scout knives are probably the only ones that people will sharpen and keep.

liked the vid. I've got some bushcraft knives but want a robust larger knife now to play around with. Esee has those modded handles now, you think that it would improve the feel? I have an Ontario rat 3 and don't like the finger choil nor the thin handle. I'm a big fan of the handle on the condor bushlore so maybe those new esee's got that going. cheers bud

What I consider amazing is that the Swedes can make a knife that will do 95% of what those other knives will do, ship it here and sell it at retail for 15, 20, 25 bucks.

What's more amazing is that they don't outsource production to China. Just proves that there's no reason developed countries can't compete in the budget market.

Thank you for this interesting and informative video. Unfortunately, where I live (Scotland) knives from the USA are heavily taxed, so I have not been able to use most of those you show here. I tend to use Scandinavian Puukko knives, they are easily available here, and are made in and for Countries very similar to Scotland. You do mention that you feel that your Swedish knife with a leather scabbard has a very narrow belt loop. This is because it is not meant to fit directly onto your belt. In Northern Europe, belts usually come with a hanger, which clips to the loop at the top of the sheath, allowing it to move more freely than if the knife were attached straight to the belt. You can buy the hangers over here if your belt does not come with one.

I dont have a lot to spend on a knife but i was thinking about a Gerber strongarm and i was interested in your opinion about that knife.
@3riverblades7 жыл бұрын
I haven't used it, but I'm not a fan of the blade steel gerber uses. Ontario, Becker, Esse all make comparable knifes for the same price and use good steel.

I gotta have a guard on a fixedblade. I dont get the no guard thing, you'll just about bleed to death if you slice your hand wide open, you'll be hiking with your hand up in the air worthless.

How many people do you know who use a smooth edge to cut trees? You use either a machete, a chain saw, a saw or an ax. All those knives are cheap knock offs for someone who wants to cut cardboard boxes provided they have a sharpening stone. For the kitchen I use Wusthof and Henckels, with Henckels preferable.

Nice Job! About the Moras, though. I have a couple tucked away in Emergency Kits that are not to be used for everyday chores. To me, you have those kits "Just in Case", and they get inventoried every Six months ( basically for Medicine Experation Dates) and then you forget about them. So why put an Expensive Knife in a Bag that just gathers Dust? But for the rest of them? Very Sweet!
