Pike my #1 , love to catch, love their beauty, and love to eat! My buddy and I target fish we like to eat. We enjoy many species, but Northern Pike is probably the best! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for watching! They are extremely fun to catch and absolutely delicious!! What’s your go to method for catching them?

That is the key! Most people that say they don’t like it is because they don’t know how to clean them!

Just found your channel and like your videos. Couple of questions for ya. Have you fished for Atlantic Salmon in that lake? Also if you love pike fishing have you ever fished Thornapple Lake? But with Thornapple Lake you can also catch Muskie and Walleye too.
@themichiganangler47462 жыл бұрын
No salmon left in this lake unfortunately , and no I haven’t tried thornapple but I have heard about the musky! Maybe I’ll give it a try next year.!

I was there a week and a half ago. I mostly fish the northwest corner though. You need bigger baits.

Bigger?! 😯 which baits would you recommend? How deep do you like to fish and did you get any big ones?

Very nice video Sir! I pike fish a lot. When I find a spot with a lot of little pike like that, I stop and bobber fish with a small perch or something. The 30"+ ones seem to hit live bait a lot more often for me.

Very interesting!!! I’ll have to give that a try!!

@@themichiganangler4746 I learned it when spending a week at a cabin at Lac Labelle in the UP. Trolling every day, lots of small pike. Our last day there I figured out that just tossing a big bobber off the dock with a small perch on it would make JAWS show up within 30 minutes. It's worked on many lakes since then. Give it a shot!

You mentioned Gull Lake. Are you near Battle Creek,? My brother in law lives on Gull. I'm live in Atlanta. I tear the pike up on Southern Large Mouth bass lures when I visit. They run weedless wo all those huge treble hooks on typical northern pike lures or spoons. Coming up over this 4th. Going to fish.

@@themichiganangler4746 mostly all ice fishing on Gull, never fished there during Summer. Got my first walleye there. My mother in law lives on Fine lake. I would catch nice Pike there every Summer, but they were thin so I would always throw them back. Then old man on lake started trolling daily. Would keep them all. Never saw one after that. I mean he caught 20 a Summer till he maybe caught one or two all year. Then old guy passed. 5 yrs ago. This has played out over 15 yrs. I'm starting to think they are coming back. No snakeheads yet I've caught or heard of, but big bowfins/ dogfish they call them. I've also gotten good walleye action on Beedle lake. Not like big lakes, but fun.

@@themichiganangler4746 how would you fish for pike in a smaller lake like Fine Lake? I caught a big one 10 years ago in 6' of water with probably 2-3' of weeds on bottom. I think they sit there where it transitions to about 20' of deeper water. Or, I've got them trolling on larger Rapallas set at 15 ' in 30-50' on Sunny days. Just wondered your opinion?

I saw you were trolling about 2.0 mph. What speeds do you normally use based on weather, temp, time of year etc.? Any input would great !!

I don’t have it figured out to an exact science yet to be honest. I just watch the rod tips and make the sure the baits are working good. I’m assuming by what others have told me speeding up throughout the year won’t hurt but I haven’t tested this theory. Actually fished last night and struck out!

Never mind. I read the comments. It’s funny because all I searched for was “Trolling for pike” and I found your nice video. I live about 10 minutes drive from Gull Lake and that’s exactly where I was planning on trolling for pike.
