spf is "sun protection factor", and the number is a multiple of natural uv protection (spf 50 is 50 times your skin's natural ability to absorb & reflect uv). reapplication time is based on what kind of uv blocker is used (quite a few degrade after an hour or so). I'm personally a fan of the ombrelle stuff, but I'm not sure if it's still illegal/non-us apporoved.
@sajero24 жыл бұрын
I bought that FlipBelt water bottle after you mentioned it on another video and have really enjoyed using it. I hate having water bottles on the hand, even if they have a strap, and with the drinking fountains all closed indefinitely in my city due to Covid, I needed something for longer/hotter runs. I agree it's kind of a pain to get in and out of the belt, but I just take 30 seconds or so to walk briefly to take a couple sips and get the water in and out. Not having to carry it and not feeling it on my waist is worth the trouble! I also fill it up about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way and freeze at night, then fill the rest in the morning. Keeps it cooler a bit longer.
@kofuzi4 жыл бұрын
It certainly is a very convenient way to carry the weight of the water. I’ll definitely have to try the frozen bottle trick. Genius.
@pwnsensei4 жыл бұрын
I wear 100% merino long-sleeve shirts, they keep you cooler than being topless or synthetic shirts. They also protect from uv light. Only downside is their price but highly recommended.
@kofuzi4 жыл бұрын
I’ve thought about LS rash guards as running shirts for the UV protection. Worried that it’d be too steamy though
@pwnsensei4 жыл бұрын
@@kofuzi Not really sure what you mean with steamy. Merino does not dry up quickly if soaked and gets a little heavier because it absorbs some moisture but even then it feels really good on the skin. I personally don't like the feeling of wet polyester/nylon at all. You could still buy one LS merino shirt and try it, if it doesn't fit your needs you can use it as base layer when you hike, ski or under your button ups

The Janji shorts look a lot like the aeroswift shorts. Are there any big differences? As a student I get 20% off at Nike so there’s only a $6 difference between the two pairs and I feel like I’d rather go with the Nikes just because I’ve worn them before. Any reasons Janji shorts are better?
@jefreywith1f9244 жыл бұрын
The thing I find most irritating running in the hotter months is sweat rolling down your forehead and into your eyes until they burn. The most effective solution I found is to wear a Halo head band. Unlike other headbands, Halo has a groove stitched inside which acts as gutter which catches the sweat before it rolls down further. However its not perfect, so I also use a 5 or 6 inch wide wrist sweat band on one arm to wipe the sweat out of my eyes instead of using my hands. Much safer in the pandemic times we live in.
@phylosophdotcom4 жыл бұрын
Also in terms of the colours to hide the sweat signs: there are many more options available e.g. white (most of my tops are white), orange, lime yellow/sky blue mesh etc :)

Hey Kofuzi, what's your opinion on shoes like the Saucony Type A9 or Nike Zoom Streak LT 4 as a 1 mile to 10k race shoe? Are they obsolete with newer carbon plate shoes? Or even something like a Kinvara? Does the barebones racing flat still have a place in a rotation now?
@kofuzi4 жыл бұрын
A1. I like them for those distances but don’t have experience as I don’t race those distances A2. I don’t think so. Not necessarily. A3. The Kinvara, the 11 especially, can replace neither a race flat nor a carbon plated shoe A4. I think it still has a place if you race short distances. My favorite road 5k shoes are the Zoom Streak and the Carbon Rocket. Only one of those is played.

My dermatologist confirmed that non-nano zinc is still the most effective and safest sunscreen. The jury is out on many of the chemicals in most sunscreens. I really like “Thinksport” SPF 50. It dries non-greasy and quite transparent if you spread it around for a few seconds. Lots of places carry little travel size zinc sticks that go on pretty dry and are really compact-Trader Joe’s has an SPF 50 one; Badger makes one and I’ve collected several other brands for both on the run and to keep in my purse everyday.

For some of the more breathable ones or the ones made out of technical material, they dry out without being stinky, so I might run a couple times between washes. For trucker hats, I usually have to wash them after each run. And then I always air dry to take it easier on the brim
