Come out to one of the outer islands, I live on swans island and we have a fresh water pond with some big pickerel along with the shorelines with some nice bass and other game fish! It’s a great beautiful place!

If your having trouble catching fish in August try out rivers. The bite doesn't get affected by the heat so much and the fishing can be just as good if not better. Caught my BP smallie 5 lbs in nh a few weeks ago in NH. Caught tons of 2s 3s and one 4 in the same river. Right in the heat of summer.

You should try the freshwater stripers on the Tennessee river. They get up to 60 pounds not uncommonly and you always have the chance of a random big catfish

Jon if you ever in Central Maine look for Mud Pond on the China rd in Winslow, theres an insane amount of bass in it. You can only get in it with a Canoe, kayak, or Jon boat tho.

Try doing it at a tailrace right in your backyard at denison dam in Texas. I've been targeting them with jerkbaits with 7'6" medium power spinning rods with 1000 sized spinning reels to make it sporty.
