I thought about this, too. I mentioned above that I don’t think he’s empathizing with some unknown abductor. I think he’s tried to figure out how to say they’ve found her (probably deceased) without being suspected (probably rightly so) and going to prison for the rest of their lives. The other option is that I don’t feel like he’s very smart. I think he has a limited vocabulary. I also think he’s not exactly well versed in speaking appropriately “in front of folks”. Of course, I believe he is guilty as sin of at the very least knowing how it happened even if he wasn’t involved with her actually dying or being killed. So, I’m guessing since this is an earlier interview, he really was not expecting it to be so difficult to speak off the cuff. I bet he is far more prepared now not to say the things he said here. I believe the early interviews in all these kinds of cases are the most telling because there hasn’t been time to think of details and slip!

Yes ! I agree and still wish they would do this . Throw themselves on the mercy of the court, agree to long term rehabilitation along with a plea deal for them telling exactly what happened to Summer & where she is . I have children of my own and while it might sound insane to some, I always said God forbid if one of them ever went missing, I’d rather find out that my child died and was at peace than to find out my child endured years of abuse. Some might not agree and that’s ok, that’s just my take on it. And I can understand why he feels that she might be already gone. Statistics tell us if a child isn’t found within 48 hours it’s usually because they’ve been murdered by then. A couple of red flags from me: 1. The dad referring to Summer as a lady, not a child or girl 2. Summer wanting to hang out with people who are not her family a lot of the time (Not a problem within itself, but it doesn't prove a healthy attachment) 3. The appearance of being high on drugs 4. The other kids being removed from the household 5. The short timeframe for Summer going missing - someone would've heard something if she was lured off or attacked in the surrounding area, leads me to believe someone in that family knows something. But I also don't think Summer's parents are masterminds. Could they be natural born manipulators? Yeah, but if they wanted to gain sympathy, I think they would have opted out of the confederate flag hat. I could see the following possibilities: accidentally a sibling did something, summer caught one of her parents doing something nefarious/summer may have been talking to others about their nefarious deeds and they did something to her, they neglected her and she got hurt, or the dad got angry and hurt her. I also hate that Summer's "best attributes" were mostly that she was "better than the boys at boys activities." It was something pushed during my childhood - that if you couldn't hang with the boys or do what they did, then you were essentially a lame girl and not good enough for adoration (children should get unconditional love, so even if Summer wasn't better than the boys, I wished she would have just been loved because she exists. Idk if this makes sense lmao)

And most of all, I really appreciated all the context and background you gave throughout and your admirable ethic in not judging this couple because of their low socioeconomic status and probable substance use. This case is local to me and so so so sad. If you’d ever take a request from the comments, I’d love if you could do an analysis on Megan Boswell. She’s a local girl now charged with felony murder of her 18 month old. She didn’t report her missing for well over 30 days and she was reaching out to media for them to interview her instead of vice versa and lied to the police so much she has 22 charges of lying to law enforcement.

As far as Summer goes, it’s basically crickets in the news and I cannot understand why. My local news station covers Hawkins Co everything else so there’s no reason an update shouldn’t be out. I watched a cold case detective review this case, and he said that there was a timing inconsistency with her disappearance. She was actually gone an hour, which was different than this interview. The father also said that he would see his little girl in the rapture or afterlife- and he made that statement super early on. The detective suspects that she had an accident and it's a rehearsed cover-up.

I’m poor. This month I have 16 cents left in my bank after I pay all my bills and food. My house is spotless. Being poor doesn’t give you a free pass on being a filthy pig especially when you have children. Yes! So many people defending them and saying it is "classist" to criticise the way they live. I'm sorry but these are not good people. They've both had children taken away from them in the past, father has accusations of SA and trying to sell his oldest son for drug money (!), both have history of addiction. But here were 4 more neglected children living in squalor with them. Poor little girl never stood a chance.

Who obviously aren’t the sharpest tool in the shed. But just because they are poor and just because they are uneducated doesn’t mean they have have to have a filthy home and property. Just because your poor and uneducated doesn’t mean you NEGLECT your children or pets. Lots of people are low income families but still don’t neglect their children or live like gutter rats? For the last seconds of this little girls last moments on earth I PRAY that her parents had NOTHING TO DO with this missing little girl. I will say it's not like their interviews are not as obvious as Chris Watts when he was laughing with the reporters and then clearly panicking with the video footage of him loading the truck. But I don't know. I don't trust Don. He seems like he's more angry when he talks about people calling him out than when he talks about his daughter being gone. But that's just my opinion. Example being the look on Candus' face, she looks really upset when Don mentions that Summer could be dead. But again, he goes back to being called out and has a very sarcastic tone about it.

I’ve followed this story closely. I actually suggested this interview to you Logan. The more I’ve followed it and in particular The Interview Rooms analysis with Jeremy the statement analysis specialist has me absolutely sold on what went on. As Jeremy said Don tells you in his own words what has happened. In the words he chooses to use and the things he doesn’t say or “I don’t remembers” . When you listen to the breakdown it make so much sense and jumps out at you almost like an admission of guilt. But between your channel, The Behaviour Panel and The Interview Room it really brings it all together. I believe the truth will definitely come out and as long as Don keeps talking it won’t take long. There’s a very good reason the police have wiped all their phones from around 3pm that day until around 7pm that night they know a-lot more than they are saying and for very good reason.

32:08 you see him getting a lil emotional & teary eyed talking about summer getting ahold of his heart. I'd like to know what he's actually thinking right then to get him looking sad & appearing to be truly missing her & wishing she was home. This was a genuine emotion imo but to what extent? Does he truly miss her are her memories getting to him knowing he's never seeing her again could he actually be feeling sorry in that split moment for everything that's happened to summer. Maybe they have sold her to trafficking & him being a predator himself knows what they will be doing to her & now realizing the horror & fear she's enduring at the hands of others doing things that maybe he wouldn't have went thar far with doing himself. I don't know its just so strange & it's obvious the mother could care less. As a mother I couldn't function to even give interviews if this was me my eyes would be swelled shut from all the crying I would be a total disaster. I will understand how anyone can look in a child's face & harm them in any way.

@Jennifer_1503 жыл бұрын
@@Emily-lh6em I totally hear you! As an audience we’re screaming exactly what you said! It seems so obvious that she would be better off (thriving!) in Morgan Freeman’s world. But I also think the ending is what makes this such a poignant, complex and interesting film. It is tragic, there are no winners. It is true to life. You can see in the final scene the look on Casey Affleck’s face, that he himself is haunted by his choice to reunite the child with her biological mother because his religious, moral, ethical upbringing has told him that no matter what, reuniting the mother and child is ultimately “the right thing to do.” Will the little girl grow up to be better than her mom, succeed in life and be ok, or is she destined to repeat the same pattern of her “role models” and be destined for a tragic life too? We can’t know for sure. It makes us take a deep look at how we would handle such a situation. It makes us ask so many questions about what is truly “right” and why we think that life in a low socioeconomic community is so “bad.” Even terrible. Who would want to live in that world? But, is there *no* love, no worth or value in these tightly knit communities? People are hardened, drug and alcohol addicted, absolutely. But what there is, is a strong sense of community. People still look out for and help each other. Not every single person is a degenerate. Poor, substance-dependent parents still love their children to death. And no matter what your lot in life, the loss of a child is utterly, forever heartbreaking. This was Casey Affleck’s dilemma in choosing what to do. And who says that it was his right to choose? Is life in the gutters ideal? Of course not. But does a mother born into this community, knowing nothing else, deserve to have her child taken away without her consent? For me, this film really makes me stop and consider so many things. We all want a happy Hollywood ending, but this movie is more sophisticated than that. It is real, true and tragic. And again, there is no perfect ending. 💔

I find it hard to believe the timeline for several reasons. The main reason being the small proximity, I find it hard to believe anyone was able to sneak onto their property without anyone hearing/seeing them or the dogs barking and alerting them. I grew up in a small town deep in the woods and people would drop off unwanted animals and we would feed them and they eventually became part of our family and I can assure u they would bark every time ANYONE or ANYTHING would come around, even during the hotter times of the year when they would be under the house to stay cool in the shade they would always come out barking, I find it hard to believe that someone was able to lure her anywhere. Then there are the cases of canduce's missing sister and his isn't the first time one of her daughters has "disappeared". Canduce has another daughter older than summer and she was missing at one point but was eventually found, unlike Summer and her aunt which are still missing to this day. One more thing that stands out to me is that Canduce says she thinks someone kidnapped/lured Summer from their yard so she gets in her car to search up the road but sends her remaining young boys to search the same area where there could potentially be bad people hiding. I find that hard to believe especially knowing this isn't the first time a child of hers has been reported missing! The first incident should have been enough to teach her to be more mindful of their where about. I have also sensed a lot of jealousy in canduce, especially when it comes to Don. I pray to the good lord that she is safe and just with a family that is hiding her for her own good and are being kind and giving her the life she deserves.

When you mentioned about “maybe there’s an incident, maybe something do go with substance abuse”.. maybe something to do with trading?
