Summer’s program is awesome!! It’s been a long time calling for me to learn calisthenics and I finally decided to go for it . I am on week 7 and seeing great results . Always wanting to learn the Crow pose and I finally got it accomplished through her program . Also I look and feel stronger in such a short period of time. Summer is such a great coach and inspiration . I get the feeling she is a wonderful person too.❤️

Hey Summer! Your beginner calisthenics plan was awesome for me - I have been a yoga teacher for years and have a lot of arm balancing strength, but I realized that yoga alone can be lacking in that it is all “push” and no “pull”. When I first started your workout plan, I was surprised that I couldn’t do a single pull up, despite having the arm strength to hold a crow pose for 60+ seconds. By the end of the program I could do three unassisted pull ups in a row, and my next goal is to get to 10! This video was really informative, especially your discussion on your diet, since I’m vegan myself and I have been worrying about eating loads of protein, but I’m realizing that I’m focusing too much on macros and not enough on micronutrients and just eating whole plant foods. Thank you for the reminder ✌️🌱

The Mobility (4:20) became so important for me. I did many sports in younger years. Between 30 and 40 I neglected this and it felt more and more bad. It wasnt the strange that I missed but all those easy movements like put your socks on your feet became more and more difficult. I begann to hate those feelings and now I do 4-5h sports/week now over a year. And I mix dumpbell, kettlebell, bodyweight workouts and cardio with stretch and mobility and.... I'm a new man 😂 have fun with sports, have fun with all your daily movements ✊🎉

you said you are focusing on two movements right now. my question is, once you nail the iron cross, if you move on to a new movement, will it be easy to maintain the ability to perform it going forward? does the body have a type of muscle memory for these advanced calisthetnics movements?
@Summerfunfitness
@Summerfunfitness 2 ай бұрын
I find it easy to maintain a skill if I have spent a significant time working on it. If I only barely achieve it and then move on, I need more training to get it back to the same level. For example, if you work hard to get your first pull-up, then you stop, you'll probably need a bit more training to achieve it again (albeit less than it initially took). However, if you spend a few months working on building up your pull-ups to the point that it becomes super easy for you, then you take a break, you'll still (more than likely) be able to do pull-ups when you return. I think if I achieve the cross consistently, then upgrade to even harder skills, that I will maintain that strength. But, if I decide I'm sick of the cross and I want to try something new and not build upon that strength, then I'm sure I'll lose some of the gains I made. But I'm just training for fun, so I don't mind if I work towards the cross, then change things up entirely. The point is that I enjoyed the effort of working towards it.

@SaschaCz
@SaschaCz 2 ай бұрын
hi hi i know im not summer but i also had elbow pain when i first started training pullups because i lacked forearm and grip strength. i recommend incorporating some kind of strength work for your forearms and wrists (light dumbbell wrist curls and reverse bicep curls have helped me a ton!). In terms of calisthenics this could also look like training false grip and dead hangs. also take a look at your grip in pullups and make sure it is a nice straight line from knuckles to wrists to elbow - flexion at the wrist can cause the forearms to over engage and pull on the elbows. working with an overhand grip helped me correct this personally. hope this helps!

I am a vegetarian who knows many vegans with dogs. Most feed their dogs regular dog food. You can feed your dog vegan food. Dogs can be vegans. But it takes a lot of work. I have a cat, and cats are necessarily carnivores. They have to eat meat. I wouldn't worry to much about being a purist. Do what you do for you, and don't worry too much about the dog. You can't change the world, only yourself.

I can only speak for myself, but it took me 8 months of training in the gym 2-3 times a week for an hour to get my first pullup -- which was in March this year. One month later, I can do 2 pullups in a row. And I'm going to keep going, trying to get to 5 pullups in a row. I probably could have gotten my first pullup faster if I trained more and spent more time specifically on achieving the pullup, but I didn't. I say keep going and don't worry about how long it'll take, as long as you can see results, like you're getting stronger, that's most important. And one day, you'll find you can do a pullup.

I do things out of my comfort zone all the time. For example, I drove two weeks across two countries to move to a small town I'd never been to before, where we knew no one. I also surf every weekend to support my partner even though I'm terrified of the waves and surfing :P Not to mention, I run my own business where I consistently push myself into discomfort in order to grow. For example, this video was the hardest video I've ever shot.

Honestly your videos you’re so calm and professional would have never thought that was something out of your comfort zone. But it’s really cool to get to know you as a person. Lol I’m in Canada still haha still freezing all winter 😂. Interesting that the water and big waves scare you a bit cause it would scare me as well. Does your boyfriend know that it’s hard for you ?? Can’t say I run my own business so I don’t know what that’s like. But you must be a good people person cause you’re reliant on people to grow yourself as well. I don't know my uncle was vegan for many years many decades actually while I was growing up. Then he started getting health problems. Now his body cannot tolerate anything except meat. That's really the only thing he can eat that doesn't mess with him. He's got problems where his stomach bloats up and it looks like he's overweight but really his stomach is bloated because his body can't tolerate anything except meat. He's 50 now and he doesn't expect to live much longer. He's got problems in his fingers where they curl up and he can't extend them all the way. It's because he was vegetarian for so many decades. He was always sort of athletic too he was a martial artist he had four black belts. Just saying veganism might seem good now but in the long run, you might get problems like my uncle did. I mean God said that animals are here for us to use and to eat. And then you don't believe in that now but I mean, I know that it's true. Things like hunting, I don't hunt a farm-raised animal is this purpose is to be raised for food. You have to kill it humanely where there's no pain. It looks like it's working for you though however I would be worried about the long-term effects of abstaining from meat

Sounds like he was a vegan that didn't eat very healthy. Vegans have to really, really be on top of their nutrition or things can go wrong. There are no real studies on longevity and vegans, but studies suggest vegetarians do live longer, although it's not a slam dunk. Most people around me eat meat and I don't even blink. And as a vegetarian I don't hate hunters. I rate them higher than people who buy meat from the store and pretend like they're above it all. A Big Mac eater that claims hunting is cruel is a hypocrite on steroids. It's more honest to know where your meat comes from. Even though I don't eat meat, I respect your position and I would never judge you.

@ElSantoLuchador LOL but you're judging people who don't hunt LOL I only feel that it's the Lord's will lead I should not hunt pick up a wild animal is that as its purpose and that a farm raised animal is to be raised for food. I work at a place that processes cows. We do over 2000 cows a day. Mostly how I see cows raised is is pretty fine I mean they're pretty lazy animals they just walk around a little bit and eat. Pretty sure most of them don't have steroids. I mean I helped my friends on their Farm before and those cows look fine they got a bunch of cows and they got a bull that they use to breed the cows and I didn't see anything wrong with the way they were raised. There's a lot of farms around me it's a pretty good agriculture area and I don't see anything wrong with how the animals are raised. I don't really see anything wrong with the process of how we process the cows either. But I do see something wrong with your hunting a wild animal and you know it's got friends and it's got a family and it's got a life. It has a mate probably. Probably offspring. It's just out minding its own business and then it gets shot which may or may not kill it right away and it could suffer for a while before it dies and it has that traumatic experience. So I feel like I don't agree with hunting anything unless I have to. As in if there's no Farm raised animal to eat. I've never seen anything wrong with the way most animals are raised even when it's for food. Ex . However most of the time I just see them out in the field and just walking around or laying down and eating because that is really all they do. However you're right there's no studies on longevity in vegetarians or vegans. And he may have not been the healthiest eater I guess. I do know that vegan diets are much more complicated because you got to get all your protein and a lot of protein from Plants doesn't have the complete protein it only has some of the amino acids that your body needs and so you have to get some of it from some plants and some of it from other plants. So I believe that God wants us to eat meat because he said that so I don't I don't see anything wrong with eating meat I feel like it's a good thing. I will get the prophet who is 99 years old and very capable still. He's never been a vegan. My great grandpa live to like 102 I think. He was like 99 years old he could still drive his car from state to state. So I guess you're about how the vegan diet can go wrong. And I guess my purpose for not hunting is that it was prophesied that the lamb and the lion will lie down together and the lion will eat straw like the ox and all the animals will get along and they won't hurt her destroy each other and a little child shall lead them. So I feel like that's something we should start working towards. So I don't think we should go harm wild animals, I think we should feed them. However the farm raised animals it's sort of a relationship where you can be friends with the animal and then still eat it because it dies pretty humanely. The cows get shot in the head with a nail gun and that's really the quickest least painful way for them to die because I'm pretty sure they die instantly. I can tell the nervous system Twitches because they sit there and twitch however I'm pretty sure that they're officially dead before their body stops twitching. On the other hand if you go shoot a deer or an elk or something it's probably going to not die instantly, it's going to hurt and it's going to wander around until it bleeds out or dies from trauma or it's lungs stop working or something plus there's the fact that I had friends and a little group that it lives with that will miss it and probably saw and heard what happened. So I do believe the farm raised way is the more merciful and they just way raising animals for food which I do believe are here for us to use for food and for clothing because God said that

@@ElSantoLuchador and I definitely don't judge people who hunt because the only reason I decided that I'm not going to hunt is because I tried to go hunting to impress a girl mostly and then I got that Revelation from the Lord that I should only hunt for what I need that a farmer's animal is that is his purpose is to be raised for food and that the lamb and the lion will lie down together and the lion will eat straw like the ox and that prophecy is something that we should help with and start working towards. That's the only reason I don't hunt and I realize not everyone has gotten that Revelation yet. So I don't judge people who hunt however I don't do it then I'm not going to say that it's a good thing

As a vegetarian I can’t stand absolutists. I feed my cat meat, because cats are necessarily carnivores. For that I am called a hypocrite and considered no better than a ravenous carnivore. The world isn’t black and white, and only simple people interpret it that way. You think your question is a “gotcha”, but to me it’s an eye roller. I’ve heard it a million times. Think between the lines. The world isn’t as simple as it seems to be in your own mind.

Just keep in mind everyone, she has very good physique genetics in addition to being quite athletic. She seems to maintain a low bf percentage quite easily. The vast majority of women will not be able to achieve her level of skill in calisthenics or be as lean because her genetics give her a huge advantage there. Not saying she doesn’t work hard because she definitely does, but the genetic component for her success is very strong like all high performance athletes. Great for inspiration but very unlikely for the average woman, or man for that matter, to achieve her calisthenic skill level and physique.
