I am amazed how these aroids grow in very small pots, are root bound, and have very little soil. So, as she said that once they attach themselves to the wall, they don't depend on or do not get anything from the soil/pot anymore. How I wish to have a massive space for my houseplants, too! Thanks for this video.

I could watch this for hours. The plants are all so beautiful! I have to laugh that Emily isn't sure how to pronounce the Latin names. I am the president of an amateur mycological society and we all pronounce the Latin names with our own flair. I know so many descriptive Latin words from mycology that I can decipher some characteristics of a plant by its species name. Looking at you, Anthurium atropurpureum...atro = dark, purpureum = purple. Learning the Latin really is helpful, although daunting.
@summerrayneoakes2 жыл бұрын
I love learning the Latin meanings. If I have the time, if I find a new one (one actually just came up recently that I couldn't place)-I go and look it up. Also love that you run a mycological society!

10:36 uhm hi i know i'm not a botanist I'm just a 16 years old, but I'm learning plants specifically plants that are native to my country philippines and just wan't to correct the uhm i think an error??, i know i'm correcting a BOTANICAL place and BOTANIST but i just want to correct that the alocasia sinuata she mentioned (the other one not summer rayne), alocasia sinuata is a different alocasia specie, it's a small type of alocasia and it's a jewel type one and i know planterina mentiond it in her TikTok video and its called mirror face in a non scientific name, and that one that she showed is i guess different one it looks like a portei which endemic aswell here in the philippines but it's kinda not aswell cuz the portei it's leaves looks like a thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum or the philodendron selloum/ lazy tree philodendron but yuh that's all i want to share thank you!!

Fantastic video , but she seems very over whelmed .....That beautiful gigantic variegated monstera needs some better care , it's gotta be worth thousands and thousands of $$$ , they should think about maybe selling slips off there plants or something to make a bit of extra cash to hire someone extra to give this wonderful woman a helping hand.

You can tell Dr Croat is not a fan of Asian genera haha. Very few in the greenhouses and two of the three Alocasia in the video have the wrong IDs. The Hapaline brownii is wrong too, it’s a very small and diminutive genus.
