At the FREE Winnetka Music Festival in June 2018. Can't remember what the first song was, but i distinctly remember Turmoil..... The entire set blew me away and i've been hooked ever since. BTW, i heard OF him for a while before that festival as a friend was familiar with his music... When i saw he was playing the fest (about 10-15 minutes from my house), i told that friend we gotta go!

I love Don and Billy together. So simple and the instrumentals and Billy's voice shine because there's no other noise to distract. Pure heaven!

Hate to say it, but this is the Billy Strings I enjoyed the most. Now we have a Grateful Dead Pothead. No offense Billy, but you went from Bluegrass, to Dope Grass....
@tanyaraven94922 жыл бұрын
@@MortandHarley Completely agree. I first experienced Billy in videos of this period and was immediately hooked. His talent was so obvious and his sunny disposition was always front and center. The more I knew about him and from whence he'd come, the more I admired his ability to succeed and, seemingly, without resentment of what he'd experienced. He's in heady times right now and I hope he can stay centered so we can enjoy his marvelous music for many years to come.

@@tanyaraven9492 bela was the same. He'll get bored of jammy prog eventually
@tanyaraven94922 жыл бұрын
@@cfcolly That's encouraging news. Just to clarify, I still enjoy Billy Strings' work immensely, just prefer his earlier work.

First time I heard him was 6 years ago, it was dust in a baggie and I’ve never heard anyone do with an acoustic guitar, what he can do, there’s lightning in them fingers, lord have mercy !!!

You need to listen to Tony Rice. He died a few years ago. This young man is phenomenal, but Tony Rice could have taught him a few things.

Had the great pleasure of seeing this duo multiple times. They camped in a Chrysler minivan right next to my fifth wheel one time at a bluegrass festival in Lowell Michigan. I really loved those days. Where did I first hear Billy? At that same festival years before with his dad Terry Barber. I remember turning to my wife one day and said, this kid is going places. boy that was an understatement.

I love how billy has that just got out of prison look.....the prison of a bad life....what gives him the ability to be able to sing the blues .....and the fact that the good times were ahead...a lucky survivor of a shitty start to life....show that life is what u make of it .. and if beaitiful soulful music is the byproduct....lucky for us....keep on plucking billy.... boywonder

This video gives some strong vibes. Hard to explain. Just the house they are in, not the playing itself. It seems miss matched. A old setting but with some timeless playing. They are too good
