We successfully completed the 'Mount' Gunung Tahan Backpacking Journey and overcame challenging trails with steep elevation changes, varying landscapes, and high humidity.
Located on the border between the states of Pahang and Kelantan, Gunung Tahan is the tallest peak in Peninsular Malaysia, standing at an altitude of 2187m above sea level.
This is our first voyage into ultralight backpacking. We thought Gunung Tahan would be an excellent test site for determining the potential of this technique. The base weights of our bags were 5.5 and 6.5kg, respectively.
Despite the sweat, rain, mud, and soreness, the breathtaking views and rejuvenation of our minds and souls made the journey all the more enjoyable, and of course, so worth it.
