I almost done with my 408 stroker. I’m using a lot of y’all’s parts. It has a forged rotating assembly, clevite h series bearings, melling 10295 oil pump, y’all’s 8722R1 cam, btr springs, yella terra rockers, hardened push rods, ported 317’s, Hinson c5r timing chain, billet sprockets, 7 quart pan, Holley hi ram, 88mm turbo, Bosch 220’s 10an line, motion raceworks flex fuel sensor, gmpp 3 bar map, arp top to bottom, 50mm waste gate and bov, 4l80e with tci triple disc, hd2 shift kit with boost valve and servo… I still have quite a bit to add to it before it’s all done and drivable. I have a 1000whp on E. Y’all make building a LS easy as can be ESPECIALLY living close to Arlington!

To make sure your intake valve is on base circle the best way is to put the push rod on the exhaust lobe of the same cyl. When the pushrod begins to open the intake is on base circle.

A better exhaust manifold and a slightly smaller turbo that still makes at least 1000hp but wakes up earlier would be something that i'd prefer for a "street" engine. Doesn't even need to be a 6.0 liter, a shorter stroke paired with a longer connecting rod would be nice for wear and tear especially with a 2618 alloy piston.

I went with a single turbo my build gen4 block 413 with 98mm turbo I'm using a turbosmart eboost 2 controller i can have 6 maps for e85 and 98 around town I got all my Aeromotive fuel system from summit and was painless getting it all sent to Australia as I couldn't get anything local that could handle my fuel needs nice to know I can get stuff sent from the USA to Oz without hassles

Wow😮, I would like that in my 2009 Silverado. I wouldn't have any problem with pulling my Mako boat to the coast. Oh yeah, I am still running the original 5.3 with over 250,000 miles, and no problems with it. I've only replaced number one coil, that's all I've done to that engine!

Yes, we have a full parts list. The only problem is the entirety of this build was brand new out of the Summit catalog. A person with a wasted 5.3 motor is going to save a TON of money in re-using viable parts that can be re-used to the same effect. Our goal is as to create a recipe for folks to replicate the functional recipe needed to make the power with their own junk-yard parts as needed. Hallelujah

Most stock cases will take that much horsepower but the internals won't I would start from the torque converter or the flex plate torque converter all the way through the transmission if it's made out of something that doesn't wear out and it's hard I'd replace it with 300 m hope I'm saying that right for more the better quality last longer

Its based off the travel of the plunger in the lifter. My LS7 lifters, I measured .200 travel. So I preloaded the lifters at .100 to keep the push rods snug, and it also keeps them from ticking.

The difference is for a smaller engine like a 5.3, the engine isn’t going to make quite as much odd-boost torque. The turbos are actually a great match for a smaller engine than a 408. They are actually very undersized for a 408.

I have a 2007 1/2 ton 5.3L LM7 Automatic. 145,000 eratic oil pressure. How much more HP can I throw at it before I have to replace everything else? 50HP? 100HP? LQ4 6L Regular Gas?

An lm7 bone stock is good to about 600hp reliably, but you wont see more than about 320-350 na. Before you do anything you should get your oil pressure up and reliable. Upgraded headers and a new throttle body are easy upgrades to get those numbers up from the stock 290 hp.

We ran C-16, because it makes detonation a non-issue, but E-85 would likely make greater power. Fuel flow with bigger injectors and pump/pumps may be a cheaper alternative.

I'd say it's pretty safe to assume 550-650hp if it's like most any other one. You gotta remember it'll be down on compression and won't have an optimum camshaft in it to squeeze every last N/A horse pressure out of it and mid range won't be real strong with that intake.. I've seen a few make a little less and a few make a good bit more but this is where a lot of them end up. I'd probably put this one on the upper portion of that range due to the cylinder head that's on it and I'd add 30-40hp to it if it was a 6.2l with a rectangle port on it.

Actually, as long as you are running a powdered-metal guide, the factory rockers and Pro Ls cams are designed to work with each other at .625 lift and below. It’s the lightest rocker at the valve and allows several hundred r rpm more with greater reliability than aftermarket roller rockers etc. a Trunnion kit is advised if the rockers have over 50l mileage on them.

That’s the conundrum. When we built this engine without a core to begin with, it was expensive because every little bracket and sensor needed to be accounted for. When you take your core plus the required Pro Ls and other components, it becomes way way less. A full list is upcoming.

We have a full recipe and you will likely have huge savings if you have a donor. We built this engine from scratch using bare parts. A LS6 for instance would likely dance the main caps at this horsepower, but if you could live in 850whp…could live easily
