The Bringer of the last gift triggers as it enters the battlefield while Cityscape leveler triggers on cast. Amonkhet does the enters the battlefield triggers but not the cast triggers EDIT: check out the replies for more specifics

I saw that too. Hulk is enters too. Cityscape says “When you cast THIS spell” Edit: Unearth also does not count as “casting”

@@ErnestStewart The Lazotep Convert is still a spell that gets casted. Cityscape leveler's trigger needs a target, and while lazotep convert is on the stack, it is not cityscape leveler. Meanwhile, bringer of the last gift triggers on ETB, and lazotep convert is a spell that got casted. So when it hits the battlefield as a copy of bringer, it sees that it was indeed cast, and now recognizes it as bringer of the last gift.

I love the archeologist’s ability to grab both the invasion and the render inert. I would add red for bitter reunion to haste up the team.

Terror of the Peaks is probably better than Bitter Reunion for a strategy / combo piece that gives the opponent less opportunity to react.

Seems like a job for Reenact the Crime and Lively Dirge! Not sure if you said this in the video yet. For that strategy (which people use to cheat out Eldrazi in Historic I think), some discard outlets like Bitter Triumph, Rona, Collector's Vault, etc would be added. And another tutor in Beseech the Mirror can sacrifice those discard artifacts or enchantments like Founding of the Third Path or The Modern Age to cast Reenact the Crime. For a potential cleaner kill (and to avoid board wipes the next turn), a one or two of Terror of the Peaks seems powerful. In Standard reanimator, I think people have replaced Tainted Indulgence with Founding of the Third Path and Pickpocket Prankster. TLDR: So... in an alternate potential more consistent build here are the cards mentioned: Reenact the Crime Lively Dirge Beseech the Mirror Pickpocket Prankster Founding of the Third Path The Modern Age Rona, Herald of Invasion Collector's Vault Bitter Triumph Kaito Shizuki Jace, the Perfected Mind Terror of the Peaks

After some brainstorming, I realized (even though rotation is coming), Reenact + Brilliant Restoration can be difficult for many decks to deal with after a successful resolution (besides GY hate of course). We don't have many board wipes worth playing that remove enchantments and artifacts in Standard iirc, besides the obvious Farewell.

Reanimation with discard for you and opponent + search library for specific card + haste and flyers for the instant death after reanimation= so much better deck. This is literally so vulnerable as there is 0 board control.

Regarding the "On Cast" comments, if your Cityscape Leveler is countered, the On Cast removal still happens, it is not an Enter the Battlefield effect. Likewise When choosing a creature to copy with Hulking Metamorph if the creature is removed in response, it is too late and Metamorph still copies that creature.

@8:41 my guess is that they're looking to cast Dopplegang on the Rot Priests. It sounds fun but probably a terrible strategy if someone wants to win games.

Man I must say that you have been matched against a bunch of weird decks over the last few videos and love how you have been able to pop off but what was your experience with them vs mono red or boros? I only ask because I’ve been in mythic since the 6th and man are these aggro decks that can kill you so fast are the majority of what I keep getting matched up against. I made your blink deck yesterday and red or boros kept having my number going first but I truely enjoyed each game that made it past turn 4 with some crazy pop offs. I understand that the matchmaker is random and we all have different experiences, just wanted to know if you happened to be matched up against those decks and just didn’t post them and I wouldn’t blame you man your a great content creator that often pulls out ideas so many overlooked as having potential. Just asking what you experienced your doing an a amazing job man keep up that creativity cheers

I have a version of this that includes terror of the peaks and immodane's recruiter, so you either kill them with ETB damage, or hasted creatures 😅

I retract this statement 😂 I had played like 10 in a row and just got unlucky with no playable creatures long enough to stay alive to execute. Obviously as described in the video needs a few pieces of the puzzle to click, but worth it when they do. Love it ❤

I played this deck almost beat it with my new mech deck I misplayed by casting high noon before grand abolisher, I would have counted his last spell instead of cutting myself to one spell

Played 15 matches and lost them all 😂 only milled lands, I could never have both invasion and render in hand. Cool combo and all but you need to rely a lot on the opponent not having crazy combos themselves

Sure doesn’t seem like this should work. Lazotep Convert says it can _enter the battlefield_ as another creature, which should be *after* it’s cast. Why would it work with Bringer and not Cityscape Leveler? If it’s not cast as that creature, it shouldn’t trigger on either. Seems jank.

The reason this does not work is that Cityscape Leveler's ability is triggered while Cityscape is still on the stack, so Cityscape has NOT entered the battlefield yet. Since Lazotep only becomes the creature AS it enters the battlefield, it is NOT Cityscape while on the stack and therefore the ability is a mistiming / not inherited yet. With Bringer, this ability is checked AFTER the creature enters the battle. Since Lazotep has already changed into Bringer when the ability triggers, and the card was cast (Even though it originally was Lazotep), the ability will trigger.

@@ErnestStewartWhen you flip it the zombie is cast (now on the stack) and it may enter the battlefield as a copy of a creature. Bringer and Thunderhulk are ETBs and leveler is “cast” So the Lazotep is CAST as the zombie creature, but ENTERS as the other creature
