@@dejack_13 I think he was confused with Tokugawa Ieyasu, who did some thing similar. During a retreat he opened the doors to his castle lit the torches and beat war drums. their enemies thought it was a trap and made camp instead of attacking. so pretty similar stories.

The most absurd thing is that Constantinople did this TWICE! not only when they lost the city to the Ottomans, but when they lost the Tower of Galata (a critical early loss of defences) in their conflict with the Crusaders of the Forth Crusade, otherwise know as the FIRST sack of the city (and arguably a far worse one than that inflicted by the Ottomans.

TW isn't really like EU4. (Relatively) smaller scale, has actual battles, more focus on strategy of them since they're present whilst EU4 is all statesmanship. Total War Warhammer really is unique among its TW brethren in that Mortal Empires campaign encompasses most of its respective world and so as such is actually grand in scale.

Flooding Stirland during the Silver Seal quest is actually the best option. It makes the following battle SO much easier. If you don't flood Stirland the Vampires pull out a bunch of Crypt Horrors, Ghouls and Grave Guard as reinforcements.

I remember one Warhammer game. Bretonnians vs. Vampire Counts. A Vampire character flew in front of the Bretonnian army and sparked a Terror check, causing 1,800 points of a 2,000 point army to just run off the board first turn. The Bretonnian player was not happy and neither were the rest of his team, who had to finish the fight basically 2 vs. 3.

That was a great update! Trying to collect enough elector state units was fun. Only problem, as always, was late game. At some point every state wants to join you almost at once, your empire gets huge very fast with tons of towns that you arent emotionally tied to. Then you just spearhead to Archaon, shoot a cannonball in his face and call it a day.

So at 9:50 he starts talking about generals dallying out only for it to fail, and one situation came to mind; Zhuge Liang’s empty fort strategy. Instead of having a force actually in his fort; they were fighting somewhere else if I recall, he is besieged. He has a force of like 30 ish servants and himself. He sits on the open castle gate, and plays the guzheng. The besieging army looks at all the servants who are relaxed and cleaning, to the open gate, and then to Zhuge Liang.. and retreat, fearing a trap

Theres a mod out there I think called end turn timer exctinction or execution something like that and it just wipes a ton of factions off the map outside of a sphere of gameplay, like to the south and west if you're playing empire since you almost certainly won't go there regardless, up to the orcs and dwarves to the south would still be there for a decently long campaign and the important factions will still be there as well surrounded by empty razed settlements from the other various factions, it's fantastic for reducing turn time and also leaving a challenge for you when you reach very very late game

pretty much late to answer that but there's The Empty Fort Strategy. Here's wikipedia explenation : The Empty Fort Strategy is the 32nd of the Chinese Thirty-Six Stratagems. The strategy involves using reverse psychology (and luck) to deceive the enemy into thinking that an empty location is full of traps and ambushes, and therefore induce the enemy to retreat. Some examples are listed in the following sections. here's where it was used (also wikipedia) : According to the Sanguozhi, in 195, the Empty Fort Strategy was used by the warlord Cao Cao against his rival Lü Bu in one incident at Chengshi County (乘氏縣; southwest of present-day Juye County, Shandong). In the summer of that year, Lü Bu went to Dongmin County (東緡縣; northeast of present-day Jinxiang County, Shandong) and gathered about 10,000 troops to attack Cao Cao. At the time, Cao Cao had very few soldiers with him, but he set up an ambush and managed to defeat Lü Bu.[1]

The answer is yes there has been a siege like the one you wondered about. During the First English Civil War the governor in charge of Newcastle and with it basically the entire Royal Army of Northern England decided to take the bulk of his troops and march out to go and help the main Army in a battle far away. The battle was a failure and before the survivors could manage to get back to Newcastle Scottish troops had already arrived and put Newcastle under siege forcing the considerably outnumbered and none too impressed guards to surrender not only Newcastle but basically the entire North of England to them on account of having nothing to fight with

during napoleons early carrier during the siege of Toulon (or maybe it was Toulouse) I think one of his batteries got charged by British cavalry and spiked the guns which 'ruins' them not only did napoleon arrive to beat off the assault but he managed to unspike the guns and fire into the rear of the retreating cavalry as they fled back to toulon
