I love IK Multimedia, and in fact I own all their products. The real issue that I've found with their download manager is that as opposed to other download managers (including NI) there is no place in the settings to set the default folder for the sound libraries. The closest thing to that is to go one by one for each sound library clicking "more options" and then click "install to" but the problem with that (besides taking a looong time) is that it does not preserve the original folder hierarchy so you can end up with a mess of libraries. So the other way to do it is to install them to the default location and move them to the new location manually and then open each IK product and set the location for their libraries there. And all that could easily be prevented by adding a default sound library location in the settings. Other than that, as I said at the beginning, I love their products.

I disagree with the the take on the waves update plan. If it was a upGRADE itd be one thing because they are making the plugin better with new features. But waves is only updating them so they still work if a OS is update causes issues. No other company charges for updates, just for upgrades. If waves ever actually UPGRADED thier plugins, maybe it'd be worth it. But the way they do us now is low key extortion! 😂. Waves like "Yo. Pay us sucka or else all your old projects are fubar!"....😅

I'm good with a download manager for the most part, as long as its easy then it's whatever. I've never seen any of these anti piracy measures, even ilok, actually prevent piracy though. There are very few plugins that you can't pirate, so it's almost like, what's the point? If your software is going to be easily pirated, why make the experience worse for the user that's actually going to support your products financially? When things are easier for pirates than legit users, that's a problem.

Ive had maschine for like 6 years and i never had any issues. Nothing major anyhow. But ive been waiting for the maschine 3 software forever tho lol. I mostly just want better daw integration or at least some better drag n drop options for getting tracks into the daw for mixing. And better tracking and mixing capabilities in Maschine software itself would be nice.

Yo SumnSumnSumn HTK, I have to differ with you about Waves... I started out with them was buying them one by one ,after I saw one KZbin Video after another using this and that.. Ok , No Harm No Faul... But them I baught the Platimum package , I think would have to look was 500 Euros(I live in Germany) something with all the plugins for a preset pack I bought... Ok , I'm still new to this music making and they wanted almost the same price for as what I paid for the package !!! I had from Air FX Creative Bundle (to my surpise, the same one that is in MPC or Force but with a better GUI) had bought for $29(I forgot I had bought a year before) over Audio Plugin Deals... Thru all my Waves Plugins out and never will use them again !!! I don't buy Cheap plugins and the Plugins that I do use don't charge for the Updates ... Things like Kontakt only charge for updates when they bring a New model and the update is always cheaper than buying the New model... That I find ok.. If I start making money with the product then ok I can pay for an update.. But until then if it stops working then I'm not using it anymore !!! I've been using Reaper for DAW... The Pivate licence was $69, I think that was 3 or 4 years ago and almost monthly updates or new Features... Sorry, it doesn't have to be a bucket with no bottom when it comes to software...

fair analysis, i have most of the plugins you mentioned. I only use my Masckine mk2 as a midi controller, but I like Native Instruments as far as the Dj software. I Use the Z2 mixier for gigs all the time. (btw I got a Unison ad Lol)

I too love Logic and Ik Multimedia. I agree with all of your choices. I didn't know the new Akai owner screwed Roger Linn out of his royalties. And Native Instruments definitely forgot Maschine was one of their products. Maschine software 3.0, could use alot of new features....realtime time stretch, better pitch algorithm, sharper/resizable GUI, better external midi integration, better piano roll, better hotkeys and shortcuts, maybe even add macros for tedious functions and make those assignable to a button on the hardware, like "trim all midi notes 1/16th, extend all midi notes to next note, and set scale of entire session to B flat minor.." All with 1 button you can assign on the hardware...but I digress...great vid bro.

Personally I've had much more issues with IK than with many other companies, from their stupid credit system for buying plugins stolen directly from scummy mobile games to the fact that they spam your inbox with "newsletters" (basically just ads). I sometimes recieve 4 of them a day, which is absurd. I also had a big issue with the first version of their T-Racks 5 MAX product (you can't buy that anymore). When I did purchase that the marketing material made it seem like it would include all of the products from their T-Racks 5 line, but it didn't. I made a video myself a while back on the whole experience (although at that time I still believed I was fully misled as when recording their T-Racks 5 MAX 2 bundle was on their website, which did include all T-Racks 5 plugins, I assumed I purchased that product and was now not given my plugins.)

Dude IK products are not the issue. Speaking personally, their customer service was TRASH. Now mind you I am talking about 5 or 6 years ago. I have not even attempted to contact them since then. I would hope its better now. If it wasn't for Syntronik I might still not be F'n with them. Also, at some point they need to get up to date and make their stuff Mac M1 compatible (NOT JUST WITH ROSETTA)!

I think APPLE is doing its job. Most of their updates are surrounding security. They aren't prioritizing music producers outside of logic. They just want to keep their users safe. Windows does the same thing its updates can throw off your digital system as well. It's the audio company's job to work with the operating systems.

Avid punished me because my subscription expired for a short amount of time . I have beef with Arturia, They wanted me to pay for ”upgrade” per synth, that i had already paid for. Now i can’t use my 7(!) synths that i bought from them. I’m done with them. Same with UAD. They just quit with Satellite Duo-which means i can’t use my 20-25 plugins, that i have bought from them. They are just hanging in ”the cloud”. Waves-I bought about 15-20 plugins from them , well, you know all about that. F.. that.

I disagree with IK and Behringer. Behringer because most/all of their products have mostly a lifespan of 2 years before getting glitch (especially their interfaces) and since every competitor is mostly just 70 bucks more expensive but still works longer. IK because they also have an "update plan" (though it's more a timer that only allows you to download the installers for a certain before you need to buy a new download key) and Samplerank which is just stupidly slow in loading sounds (and most just don't sound that good). I love the mixing tool of ik but sampletank vs Kontakt is a truly unpleasant surprise (and I own MAX 3.5)

with Avid I think their pricing is the main reason behind the grief they get. I mean the program isnt for me but seems decent for recording takes etc. it's just that every main DAW works out cheaper and tends to add new features and functionality that avid seems to be last with if at they even implement at all. as a producer who uses a lot of midi, pro tools is a nightmare to use.it's slow,clunky and not all that stable

Also he has no copy protection on his plugins. No serial numbers or any other BS. Hornet plugins is one of the best companies out there.

Only issue I have with Native Instrument's uptake of Izotope is how they discontinued Trash 2 just before hand without offering a replacement multi distortion plugin (probably with a name change, given how they seemed so set on cutting it from their product line) - whether the timing of that's just a coincidence or not is another question though. Really great video man, solid theme, completely nails the current tone of the what's happening right now.

I think you're understating the IK Multimedia download manager issues man...they are the #1 worst in the industry...the slowest, most confusing, most unnecessarily complicated system of product procurement, and they bundle in a bunch of demo version programs you don't want on top of everything else, ballooning the install time too...terrible!

COCKOS Yo, even before I bought REAPER, used the free reapacks, and then with JS... Used to use LMMS and reapacks + some other stuff. Reaper yo. This shii needs to packaged with a theme and piano roll magics and stuff. I am sure people would EAT IT UP and be like. Wait what you saying all this was already available, POSSIBLE, and all we had to do was install some stuff basically? Yup... It's crazy like that.
