There is a free trial. Also, the plugin doesn't HAVE to host your VSTs, you can route midi out to your other synths, etc. as normal. I wish they had an LFO or some other way to add randomness to the velocities.

If you use ableton you can add an LFO device to your chain and link it to a param in the VST

You could use the MIDI export so you can then manipulate parameters.
