Been following Mark since 1993 when I thought I was *late* to the party! Second album. Amazing not just that he's still performing, but that he's still changing and finding new inspiration. He's made so many great albums that it's near impossible to believe.

I have been waiting for some decent live footage from this album. Thanks Pitchfork. I remember seeing the 9.2 album review of this. No album is more deserving. This record is just unspeakable in it's beauty. I feel like it may stay with me for many more years. The tales, the people, the intense sadness of their stories. It is humbling in it's genius

I remember Mark mentioning off-handidly that he first formed a band back in the day as a way "to meet women" but noted that now, many years later, he finds himself singing to an audience consisting only of middle-aged men. In the end, you're left singing to reflections of yourself... as seen in this clip.

Truly a fantastic story teller. I can't think of a single other musician who can turn anecdotes and conversational topics into lyrics as well as Mark. Then to pair it with good music as well is crazy. On paper it should be boring but for some reason it just marries so well and works perfectly.

I used to hold this really stupid and ageist notion that people over 40 were incapable of making fresh music (pop/alternative, etc.) but Sun Kil Moon completely destroyed that misguided notion. Benji blew my mind, never heard an album that deeply confessional and moving, from the lyrics to the music, just incredible.
