I actually prefer pilling my books on top of each other. I wrap my books in plastic cover and when I leave them standing they tend brown more on the top paper portion. Unlike when I stack them the plastic gets all the beating.

I'm in the middle of The Killing Moon, it took me a while to get into it. I picked up her books because of your recommendation and loved her trilogy. I wanted to read an African American author for Black History Month and I love fantasy, so it was a perfect match. Thanks for introducing her to us through your thesis. There are videos about breaking them in in artificial ways (tennis ball method etc.), but I prefer to break them in myself. Wear double layered socks. Not two pairs, but socks that are literally two layers thick. Also, put a bandaid or moleskin patch where you're getting the blisters. I'll intentionally wear them on days I know I'm going to walk a lot to cut down on the time it takes (not the easiest). Platform styles are harder to break in, so depending on which style you bought, you may be in for a bit of pain. If you really can't handle it, sell the pair you have, and investigate their soft leather option! Good luck!

How do you stop the Jadon's from squeaking? Does it stop eventually? I've had my pair for years and I've only worn them a handful of times because the noise makes me self-conscious.

I have patent docs and I just used to chuck on a load of talc powder/powdered dry shampoo which definitely helped during the time that I was breaking them in. As I've worn them so much, they barely make a noise now:)
