Sundarbans: Lives, Livelihoods and Landscapes” weaves stories of the natural heritage of the largest delta and mangrove forests of the world. In a nature scape where the ground beneath one's feet is constantly fleeting, the forests function as a space that gives generously and takes mercilessly. The confluence of endangered species and unpredictable livelihoods - is a tale that ties faith and ecology, resulting in coexistence amongst vulnerabilities.

Excellent coverage of some of the glimpses of Sundarbans. Nature (Mother Earth) is one of the biggest victims of our (humanity's) exploitation ever. It is high time that everyone of us pledges to respect our Mother Earth and do his or her bit to restore it's true beauty! I appreciate your efforts in this direction.

Great ... absorbing narration about Sundarbans and the people there... Got emoted .. no words can explain... Kudos to the team... The short film fortrays the below in a stunning manner: Life in the Sundarbans is a delicate balance of beauty and challenge. The forest, dense and teeming with wildlife, offers both sustenance and danger. The Adivasis have a deep, ancestral connection to their land. Their livelihoods are intricately woven with the environment, relying on fishing, honey collection, and traditional agriculture. Each day is a testament to their resilience, as they navigate the threats posed by wild animals, cyclones, and rising sea levels. Despite the harsh conditions, the Adivasis’ love and belief in their homeland are unwavering. They hold a profound reverence for the forest, referring to it as "Ma." This spiritual connection is a cornerstone of their existence, imbuing them with a sense of purpose and belonging that transcends the mere physical challenges of their surroundings. Their passion to remain in the Sundarbans is a conscious choice to uphold their heritage and way of life against the backdrop of modernity's encroachment. The noisy, dusty cities may offer more convenience and economic opportunities, but for the people of the Sundarbans, the forest's quietude, its rhythms, and its whispers hold an irreplaceable charm. In this delicate symbiosis, the Adivasis and the Sundarbans are bound by a mutual promise of care and continuity. The forest sustains them, and in turn, they protect and cherish it, crafting a narrative of love, respect, and enduring commitment to their homeland. Well done team.. the research, the picturisation, the narration, the flow, the people all are collectively created the magic ..loved it. Way to go..

My deepest admiration and congratulations to your entire team for creating such a remarkable and poignant documentary. The film beautifully weaves the intricate stories of the natural heritage of the largest delta and mangrove forests in the world. It powerfully illustrates how the Sundarbans, with its ever-changing landscape, serves as both a benevolent provider and a relentless force. The delicate balance between endangered species and the precarious livelihoods of the residents is portrayed with such sensitivity and depth, creating a narrative that resonates deeply with viewers. As I watched, I found myself emotionally moved, especially when reflecting on the lives of the Sundarbans' residents. Your portrayal vividly captures the challenges and resilience of the Adivasis, highlighting their faith, connection to nature, the risks and joys they experience, and the simplicity of their way of life. Your film has not only highlighted the pressing need for a concerted effort to improve the living standards of the Sundarbans' denizens but also emphasizes the complex balance between social progress and the preservation of cultural and ecological heritage. This is no small task, but your work serves as a powerful catalyst for change, inspiring hope and action. Congratulations once again to the entire team for creating a film that honors the ways of life in the Sundarbans, respects the formidable power of nature, acknowledges the uncertainties and dangers faced by the residents, and pays tribute to the majestic tiger. Your work is a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Sundarbans and its people.

Pure Gold research. The structured interview method of data collection and simultaneously capturing live action is a humongous task. Congratulations to the entire team. Now to make use of this gold data and produce a research paper would be a sone be suhag, I mean a feather in a cap. Current Science is one Indian journal I suggest. All the best.

Well, while the film on the lives of the residents of the Sunderbans progressed, my eyes were welling up. I could identify many things with what I have read in Bengali novels, usually tragicomic narrations, that dwelt on the vagaries in the lives of the dwellers of the forests, including their interactions with the politicians who fulfill the agenda decided in the cities. The environmentalists have summed up their conclusions post 18:20, but the actual psyche of a 'Sunderbanian' has been expressed by Mrinmoy Mondal, the astute guide. I cannot but agree with Mrinmoy's point of view, which is similar to my feelings from my single visit to that area. I feel there should be a concerted effort to improve the living standards of the denizens, which is a difficult but not an impossible proposition, considering the dichotomy that will come to play when we want social progress while preserving the existing heritage of tales and norms passed down from generation to generation. 👏👏
