Love your talkie/rant videos recently, but also love seeing how you move through your life to continue living sustainably. It doesn’t feel important to show but I think a lot of ppl need to see deep cleaning, mending, shopping with reusable bags, renting things, etc… to normalize doing these things because I think a lot of us are so used to our throw away culture. We don’t get to see ppl living sustainably around us and then get embarrassed to do it by ourselves. So these like going about your sustainability routines in the everyday make me feel validated in looking a little strange sometimes lol.

Decluttering in a low-waste way is so stressful for me. Like there are so many steps to take and the idea of just like throwing it all out the window and easily never having to think about it again is so tempting TT

Anytime we actually end up having a paper napkin, like eating from a restaurant or being at the airport. I flatten out those used napkins, and save them to clean out the rest of my compost bin. Since paper napkins can be composted, it's even better.

I have colored rags for cleaning projects. So in the bathroom we have a white rag for the white toilet and we have a blue rag that's for cleaning the sink as "blue is not for poo". We have had a pink rag at one time and it was "pink for the sink". So we never mixed up our toilet rags (even when cleaned) accidentally.

@@mayjunejulia Haha well of we ever get pink rags again (or another color for the sink), we can easily downgrade our blue rags then 😆

A suggestion for decluttering vs being sustainable: I would suggest filling a box with clutter and putting it somewhere you don’t normally look and if you don’t think of anything in the bin for the next few months then donate it!

This is the first long-form content of yours that I've watched and I keep coming back to this video as I get my home ready for spring. There's something really chill and personable about your approach to sustainability that I love, plus you have a beautiful home and the lighting/style of this video is immaculate to me. Thank you for sharing!

My cat has asthma too! It was so bad for a long time, but with consistent inhaler use over about 6 months, it got SO much better! He's now a year asthma-attack-free, after it was several times a week! We got an air purifier too to keep in the room he spends most of his time, and he's gotten even better!! Keep listening to your vet and don't give up hope! 💪

17:25 this might just be rewording what Shelby said but imo the biggest question you should ask yourself is “what can this be used for?” Like you might be tempted to keep something because you know it has a lot of uses, but if none of those uses are relevant to your life, it’s not worth it. For example, I used to keep paper shopping bags all the time because that material is so reusable, but as the bags kept piling up, I realized I wasn’t actually doing anything with them, so I recycled them. It comes down to what works for you :)

You are my first stop before going shopping. I honestly hope to achieve your level of commitment to sustainability and prosperity! 🌳🏝🐉 It’s always refreshing to put into perspective how marketing makes me want to buy more, but the quality isn’t being added with quantity. Everything will become normal to a person after sometime. Mass consuming media has effects on mental perception that last indefinitely without regulations and clear boundaries set in place.

18:20 In Denmark, I'd say it's super normal to use reusable cloths to clean your toilet. I'm pretty sure it's the norm in most homes, so yeah, I'd say it's safe. You put it to the wash afterwards after all and if you wash it on 60 or 90 degrees celsius, all bacteria would be killed next time you use it.

I use one side of my sink for compost and use the red, plastic folders can with the lid. I need it close to coffee maker because I use the Keurig fillable pods and need to dump them after each use. They get messy but saves alot of coffee and plastic. I also use dishes from goodwill or garage sales under my plants! Saves money and they are easy and more fun styles than just the normal drip pans. I definitely need to get my cat in because she seems to wheeze and I will give her my inhaler but it's not easy. It's the same med apparently, but prob need a proper diagnosis. 😢
