Oh by the way, the shading can be drawn with paintbrush and look fine. You just have to set your paintbrush mode to "paint inside", rather then "normal". Give it a try, it works great.

Dude Spazkidin3D these tutorials are amazing! I remember watching these when they came back and I'll always go back to your because they're straight to the point and also funny. I wish you had a whole series just teaching people about different programs like Blender or Fruity Loops because honestly I can't stand boring tutorials that are over complicated and also unfunny. I will always come back to these to remind myself of the basics of flash. Thanks man.

Wow, spazkid this is really impressive, I mean not on a content basis but on a uploader-viewer basis. You're taking time out of your day to teach us about what you do. Tablets are anywhere between $60 and $1000. I recommend the Wacom Bamboo line for beginners, they're probably the best budget tablets. The current version of Flash is CS6, and it's about $700. The older versions will probably be a lot cheaper, but there are ways and means of getting around the price tag.

As an avid Adobe Production Premium user, I've taught myself Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and most recently Illustrator but I've never used Flash and have always found it too massive and boring to learn. After watching this, I've learned that A) oh, I fucking need a tablet and B) it's actually really fucking simple. And you also make it entertaining as well as having an impressive resume to back you up. What I love most about this tut is its frankness, so keep cursing and being honest.

There are plenty of great digital artists who use a mouse to draw with. It's a bit more difficult for some people to draw with a mouse but just like everything else, it all comes down to personal preference. You should always use the tools you're comfortable with.

regular cartoon speed is 12 - 18 frames per second because you usually have to draw every frame so when it is at 24 fps in the day of animtion before computers people made a shot every 2 frames

The way to erase lines and not colour the other way is to go to the eraser then click the circle with a wiggly line through it that appears. Go down to erase lines and the eraser will only erase the lines. I think your way is probably quicker though.

Hi Max, Just wanted to add that in my experience, I really disliked the tablet at first and did not use it for a long time. But I have gradually gotten used to it, and now find it easier. I used to prefer just drawing and scanning and uploading. I still think that drawing traditionally gives better results, but between mouse or tablet, definately I would pick tablet.

good tut bro. You went into the animation essentials in a way that made sense. It was a bit all over the place at times but I was able to follow it for the most part. Some more tool/timeline hotkey coverage would have been nice in my opinion, as it's crucial to getting over the whole learning curve of a new program. good overview of the various tools' functionality though, particularly the use of the pencil for shading.
