1 sharper attack a bit brighter, 2 smoother all the way around. Both nice.

I prefer number two. Seemed to play easier. Also sounded cleaner on the third excerpt. Nicer overall sound, full, more bravados. But then these are just turned 77-year-old ears. Both nice, and someone like you can sound good on either. But if you had to keep one horn, keep the second one.

Number 2 seemed more relaxed

To me, number one sounds a bit clearer. Number two a bit darker, but more precise and down the middle. I would play the first one in a band context and the second one solo.

I preferred the quality of articulation on #1 on all of the excerpts- more immediate and lively to me. #2 sounded nice on excerpt 2 as well, but felt more like a soloist instrument. I play mostly in a classical or church setting, so I would pick #1 9/10 times.

I much prefer #2. #1 has a little more brightness, coming from stronger overtones somewhere in the 3rd - 6th partial which makes it a little more nasal and tinny. #2 has a better balance of fundamental and the first few overtones which makes it feel more resonant and natural. Some of the lip slits on #2 sounded a little harder to slot though.

Hey Trent, hope you are keeping well brother!! The second one sounds a little broader to me, the first one seems more compact .

I heard what seemed to be a bit of struggle with the first one, and a lack of struggle with the second - as if you trusted the second one more.

To my ears, it sounds like the second one keeps pitch center better. I preferred listening to it.

Liked the second one better. But could live with the first one too. Maybe too close for my 81yo ears.

Nº2 is a bit darker, a bit less high frequencies in the sound (as listened through an old iPhone speaker!!) Seam to be 2 pretty good trumpets, I wonder what they are ?

Both are incredible trumpets! It's very close but I prefer personally #2 as well.

One of them has a softer attack, or the start of the note is quieter.

Trumpet Number two is the winner here for me. It sounded like it was easier to play, center the pitch on, especially in the higher range, and could produce more colors than the first one. The first one appears brighter, but it almost could be just a one trick pony with no room to vary any color, dynamics, or even articulations. The first one did not seem to hit the higher part of the range as easily or as efficiently as number two did. From what I heard here, and two minutes is not the best amount of time to judge, I would go with Number two. Number one did not do anything for me as a listener at all.

So ... three weeks later: Which trumpets were those two? Happy New Year and good luck for 2025!

1st one was an Adams a1v2 and the Second AR Resonance Feroce.
