I can say this on behalf of all the lads in the Reserves, and that is we have had a proper chat about it and we're definitely going to try our hardest to behave ourselves, and show the shirt the respect it deserves. But...we will still give 100% in every tackle and 100% in every game, that will never change. People that play the game know that things can get very heated, very quickly but we are making a conscious effort to turn this discipline around. Something i will say is, due to the cameras being there, every single team that plays us give an extra 10% to beat us, and sometimes that leads to things being said, and people being provoked. But we are now looking forward, and this will all be sorted out, you have my word. Thank you all for the ongoing support, and we'll do our best to win some silverware this season. We're all Palmers aint we!!!

Wozza 85 Well said, Wozza. I played the game, many moons ago now, and passion is a very good thing, but respect along with it is extremely important. I like how you said that the team will show the respect the shirt deserves. That is key. Palmers have made a very good name for themselves, thanks to a lot of hard hard works. and players need to show the team respect. Chin up @Smiv. The majority of the viewers love the channel for exactly what it is, a tongue-in-cheek look at Sunday league. Anyone who has played Sunday league gets involved in the fights, the drinking, the stories, that’s what’s brilliant about your channel, it allows everyone in. The scrutiny you’re under is simply a byproduct of your success. This is just coming from a fan of yours, but I’d watch the channel literally no matter what went on. It will continue to grow as well. Palmers has a target on their back from the opposition, the league, and now the FA, but just know that the amount of fans and viewers outnumbers that 10/1. PTID! COYP!

Love watching your videos, Smiv, I'm an old man now who emigrated overseas, but I was a Sunday league player for many years before I moved. Your videos and content is genuine, it always takes me back to the laughs we used to have when I played. Smiv I've got some experience as a Director at an Isthmian club, during my time we had issues like you described with individuals giving out advice. I would suggest that any future correspondence that you have via the telephone you ask for an email as conformation of the conversation. I'm sure you've probably thought of that but it can really help. Best of luck getting your discipline sorted, I know it's a nightmare but as you say, players wear their hearts on their sleeves, it shows they care but on the flip side the passion needs to be controlled.

Smiv. It shows a lot of guts to make a video like this and kudos to you for doing so. I ran my own team a long long time ago now and I always stressed that we needed to give 100%, play with passion, but play with absolute respect too. I had to get rid of a couple of players that simply let the team down on too many occasions (not showing up, discipline etc.) It’s a tough gig running a Sunday league team and couple that with the high level of video production that you do must make it incredibly so for Palmers. Keep your chin up, my friend, as you have a lot of supporters, myself included, that care about you and the team. I love Liverpool FC with a passion (45 years now! Geez I’m old!) but since I discovered Palmers, pretty soon after you started posting, your team became a passion too. I care what happens to you and the team and want only the best for you. I think you have to consider that when each and every game is filmed in its entirety for the making of these videos for us subscribers - there is a “warts & all” element that’s unavoidable. I personally don’t think that in the heat of a competitive game, a single bad tackle and / or reaction to one is relative to a judgement of character for any individual. Anyone who has followed both the 1st team and the reserves would be hard pushed to describe anyone in a Palmers shirt to be a dirty player, at least not with any real degree of consistency. I don’t think that people take the current run of form of a few red cards as seriously as the team(s) might think and the FA will always have their own agendas that either won’t be relevant or sadly without consequence. Like the penguins of Madagascar quite righty say fellas.... “Smile and wave boys, smile and wave” ! Keep up the great vids Smiv and come on you Palmers !!

A well-communicated statement there, Smiv. Putting the line in the sand but also addressing problems that I'm sure many other amateur secretaries like you and I have experienced similar issues with their FA where common sense is absent. It's also a window into showing what you have to deal with as an organiser of the team. It's not just about doing what we see in the videos and your weekly vlog. There's far more that goes on. It's basically a part-time job that's unpaid with more stress than your average job. You do a cracking job mate. Particularly right now with so much going on. For the four red cards you've had there's a few dozen players that are doing exactly what is asked of them. You've done the right thing by being open and transparent. It's also responsible of you to call it out (both the ill discipline and poor decision-making by Essex FA) when other teams around would just brush it under the carpet or blame others. Keep doing what you're doing. These videos are the real insight to football on a Sunday for amateur players. If you can address issues that plague the modern game and show the true side of it then if that helps to improve Sunday League football in the long run then you've left quite a legacy. Not sure about Sunday League football in Essex but in South Wales it's dying a slow death. For many reasons. Some you've addressed here. Hopefully, it helps to prevent the game on a Sunday from continuing to deteriorate.

I did my dissertation around the FA disciplinary process, which involved speaking to numerous relevant figures and attending a disciplinary hearing at a county FA (won't say which one). It was essentialy the same as you describe, with a group of old dudes pretty much throwing out two different appeals without considering the evidence or hearing the guys out in full. I was struck at how clear it was that these things are simply to tick a box and say "we've given you a chance to defend yourself, but our decision stands". Pointless in other words.

Same thing exactly happened to my local club where the FA website stated he wasn’t suspended the local FA said he wasn’t but after we played him of course he was banned and our fine surprise surprise doubles!!! This is common!!! I watch you guys for the entertainment for the typical ups and downs of Sunday league one thing I will say is the players are not letting us viewers down the entertainment is still always there!!! Unfortunately local FA's tend to be awful at understanding situations... I was a ref for about 5 years for the Devon FA and the amount of times they would have zero empathy for neither clubs or refs was shocking. They fail to see that this isn't the premier league and when mistakes are made by the FA such as not suspending Nick on time they should own up to their own mistakes, but they don't care... No matter the situation though I will always love and support your vids as Palmers are my favourite Sunday league team! Onwards and upwards from here for both the first and reserve teams! COYP!!!!

Smiv, We had the exact problem with our FA (not gonna say which one as they’ll probably charge my views). We had a player sent off in the semi final a couple of years back. The referee was late putting the card through the game system and still 3 weeks later (cup final) it still wasn’t there. We called and asked if it was ok to play him and they said “he’s not on here so he is fine to play”. We didn’t disguise him as another player, we were honest and because we recorded our games that season, they used it against us and charged us. Not only did we win the final, but the day after they called us and told us it was getting taken away from us and voided. The FA have a lot of work to do and if they want to improve grass roots football they need to work with their “customers”. We haven’t recorded a season video since and it was all because of them. Shame really. Good luck with the rest of the season and I’m sure both teams will turn it around and make you proud 👌

As a fellow cllub secretary (plus all the million other jobs) Whole Game System, Match Day App and Full-Time are embarrassing. The amount of money in football and they struggle to make almost basic systems such a struggle. Is that really their contrbution to grassroots football? The County FA's are just as hopeless. Almost two months it took ours to come to a decision about an adandoned game. Then even at league level you have meglomaniacs that think it is their own little empire. There must be something in the water this season.. our discipline record is taking a hit already and we finished 1st and 2nd in the discipline table last two seasons! I feel your pain Smiv!
