I got that slipping too what i did was at where the cable meet the clutch arm i gave it a few mm of play and didnt make the clutch too tight and it fixed all my problem

You don't need a complete rebuild when you take it apart if everything looks good its the cylinder head that needs the rebuild valve guide and seals check the valves if they seal . if you want you can get new piston rings to fresh in up the compression. I would definitely change and upgrade the timing chain everyone forgets it's a cheap China chain if it breaks while running 98 percent by by engine. Usually at 20 hrs the motor fairly good even 40 hrs there not to much 60 hrs that's when your looking at the hole top end gears, clutch and other main parts. If you were actually racing it all the time then thats different it cuts the life span down quickly on parts because of the way it's being used or should I say how it been beaten on and abused. Lol I would rebuild the hole thing yet. The smoke either bad rings or valve seal and guides im positive on that Trust me look at before you start buy tons of parts. In less you have the money to just throw at it and want to have lots extra parts.

It sounds like clutch in gaug ment if you power shift it in to fith gear and it doesn't do have that same lag filling it's the clutch it also could the gear selecter star it self or the arm. Not fully in gauging right

I think it is clutch related. It doesn’t rev like it’s between gears. It feels more like if you gas it with the clutch halfway out.

I would say its not the gears you can definitely tell if it was the gear set it would be most likely be a real hard shift on no shift mean the gear teeth. If you check the oil it would have lot of metal. It sounds like the clutch isn't in gage fully and not let it completely go in to the gear. But sense it's only 5th gear I'm thinking the shift star and gear selecter arm with the sift star gear indicater. All 3 work together the shift star mod fixes the shift star gear incater from popping from the star.. The star it self can be sanded down a little so its easy to get into each gear or just 5th gear depending were you sand each notch is a gear on the. Star. There not a fix for the shifter arm you just replace it it's the round rod in the case your actual sifter connect to it . Everything came be looked at on the clutch side of the case with the clutch removed you can see it and check if anything not currect or in gauging right. Hope that helps. It about as much as I can think of with out look at in person.
