@Little Dorrit Not exactly. They go into a state called torpor but they feed very well before they do this. Funny that even "inside raccoons" do this also but not to the extent of "wild" raccoons.

There are three things, I have witnessed so far that the raccoons will quickly leave in the middle of a meal at Jim's diner. A bear climbing up the stairs, hearing dogs barking, and now ducks quacking.🐻🐕🐕🦆🦆🦆

Some are absolutely sweet, snuggle bugs, while others, try and sound rough & tough! I LAUGHED at the little stinker who was holding his snack and his fellow bandit brother came over to him and grabbed that yummy hotdog right out of his paws...mid chomp! You came back out...After the little stinker got away with it.
