Getting to be autumn up here in the Alleghenies. Rainy early autumn morning today, but Time to tune up my snow blower as the standard is three feet of snow in my driveway. I started with fortran and punch cards and grad school with earth sciences statistics. Became the guy who got stuck when the normal IT department wasn’t interested. Learned unix system management (now MacOS) and tcip networks from books. Then, as a geologist, I figured out lidar processing from books! Heartfelt advice regarding artists, heroes you might not really want to meet, and about not excluding the excellence due to the idiocy. I was and am still a musician who can dish, kill rooms as we say. But I'm an ER veterinarian, and long ago were my touring days. I live now amongst talented legendary cohorts and play when asked to. I set boundaries with my primary contact in that community early on when the world bent South: 'we are not going to discuss politics (etc)'. I've been lucky so far, but on occasion the others forget. That's when to practice the fine art of demurral, deflection. You're a gem. Keen eye, bud. Thanks for all.
@hickok45 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can imagine what you've seen and the stories you could tell. A couple of my literary heroes are Emerson and Thoreau. If I could travel through time and have dinner with them, I might just think better of it and not do it. I'd just as soon keep them on that pedestal. :-)
@kayak63red34 Жыл бұрын
@@hickok45 Yep, agree. If they are our heroes and unmet, they are on that pedestal; it's their best work that put them there, it wasn't their first draft. (unless it was. Some impart wisdom improvisationally :-) )

I am starting to get into Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) and it has been fun to do and so many nice people with fun shooting in common. I am your age and it is neat to see the age range in CAS. I was probably more excited to win my first belt buckle than the 1st place shooters. A cool buckle for "Dead Ass Last". Boonville Regulators CAS group are a very nice group of folks that shoot every weekend. It is still difficult for me to believe that it is possible to shoot four guns and 24 rounds in 17 seconds even though I watch some do it. I am learning a lot watching Jed iTV on YT although he only shoots black powder in his CAS guns.

Good point, and in many cases, that's what we're up against; however, there is quite a large percentage of the population who are simply not exposed to firearms or people who enjoy them. Most of their information about firearms come to them from the news reports, which is definitely not good. We can give them a more realistic look at what gun ownership is about. They just need to know some normal people who happen to own guns. That goes a long way, I think.

Although these two things I totally opposed, I've decided to live and let live. Their music is still good and I don't have to spend any time hanging out in the same room to argue about any political B.S. Most of us that know anything about anything know that there is no reason to fake your accomplishments or trick folks onto believing something unreal! Well, long story short he shot a BLM member who first attacked him after he threatened to destroy his bar during a "peaceful" protest. One of my favorite bands, 311, publicly condemned Jake & not long after this whole ordeal he committed suicide. Since all this I've never felt the same way about my once favorite band 311 again. I really enjoyed your video today. I agree about seperating the artist from their politics. I really enjoy Pink Floyd, but I would probably not enjoy talking with them. Two of the main artists can't even see eye to eye. That Colt .22 is really pretty, but for the price, I would expect a recessed cylinder. I have a S&W model 18-2, Only six shots, but the countersunk chambers are so classy to me. Colt will probably be able to sell all they make, so I guess it dosen't matter what I think, but a few extra moves on the CNC machine could have made this revolver real "classy" in my opinion. By the way, I know there is no "fakery" in your videos, Don't ask me how I know, I just know.
