Hi Karen, thank you much for the support. I am John and Marges Grandson and builder of the boxes. It put a smile on my face to see how happy you are with the new MiniPack. This was the first box I actually got to design with my grandpa and built the prototype myself. We all put hard work into everything and it really brightened everyone's day to see such love from the community.

Please, when you show us your reference photo, could you hold it still long enough for us to take a screen shot? 5 full seconds will do. And, if possible, zoom in for a good tight view. One of the most important things to me is learning how to translate a photo image into an original vision. It might not be something that can be taught. But maybe it is something that can be learned! Thank you.

Awesome painting! Thank you for the demo! I have a question about paper: how often do you use paper other than uart? And I can't wait for your video on filling a pastel box!
@KarenMargulis

Thanks for watching. I like to use other papers every once in awhile just for fun. I do prefer Uart for it's versatility though.

Another great job,thanks for making these videos,dear Karen can you please come up with the way we can glue our pastel paintings to canvas and eliminate framing?,also my friend says pastel is drawing not painting, i don’t agree with her,what do you think?❤️👩🏻‍🎨
@KarenMargulis
@KarenMargulis 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Pastel is painting because we are using pure pigment just like oils and we apply it like paint. There are some good articles online about this subject! I don't know about eliminating framing but I am always looking for new ideas!

Just wondering...why are your reference photos so small? Like thumbnail size. 🤗
@KarenMargulis
@KarenMargulis 6 жыл бұрын
Maester Meep I use small reference photos so I am not tempted to copy the photo and put in too much detail. My goal is to interpret the photo so I only need to see the big shapes!

Hi. My name is Stacy. I usually do watercolor but I am wanting to learn pastels. What type and brand of pastels would you recommend for a beginner? And do you you soft pastels or oil pastels? Any advice you have for a beginner would be great also. Thanks so much! Blessings to you and yours. Your North Carolina Fan, Stacy

Hi Stacy, I am using soft pastels. My favorite brand is Terry Ludwig. I would recommend starting with the best pastels and paper you can afford. It really does make a difference! You can find a lot of information on my blog www.karenmargulis.com and my patreon page www.patreon.com/karenmargulis

Karen Margulis Thanks so much for your answer. I will be adding these to my Christmas List. I have never before even touched a Pastel but watching you paint with them has inspired me to give it a try. And I also am learning that I can combine my favorite medium, watercolor, with pastel for a beautiful finished piece. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us all. I'm looking forward to learning how to use this medium and incorporate it into my art. Many Blessings to you and yours. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :-)
