@@stuffandthingsyoutube hopefully they have good news. I just saw three times promises made and each time was like thanos snapped and tons of people got laid off and that was the oil industry which prints money. Just seemed like most all execs from the company being consumed got axed and were kept in dark or under nda to get the golden parachute

If the portfolio is simplified, hopefully the HH blends remain and the quality doesn't go down. This isn't an easy time to have Old Dark Fired as my second favourite blend ever. They are, I assume, Mac Baren's most popular blends? So hopefully STG will handle them decently.
@ImJustHereToGrill2 ай бұрын
STG is not bringing the equipment over seas so the density/pack of the plug, width of flake, and smoking mechanics will probably change to some degree. HH series may survive but it will likely be different.
@ricardogadelha50032 ай бұрын
@@ImJustHereToGrill Hopefully it's just the mechanics indeed. All of the flakes I've ever smoked were Mac Baren, (Burley Flake and ODF), but I also tried Escudo's curly cut which is STG produced. I don't know whether people like or dislike STG's flakes, but it seems the Dunhill/Peterson line is still a favourite of many, so hopefully the quality will not change much.

It doesn’t make any sense at all, no matter which way you look at, to buy a company for millions of dollars just to shut it down. I can’t imagine they won’t keep at least the best selling blends around.
@Kenjiro57752 ай бұрын
Companies buy other companies quite often just to kill competition when possible. Think of any sector and you will see a trend of fewer brands offering the same products over time. There is another reason for buyouts like this, the buyer may want a few key components from the purchase, but will scuttle the remaining ones to maximize revenue and minimize cost. A minimum margin threshold can be one factor that determines what gets axed.
@ImJustHereToGrill2 ай бұрын
They could have bought it just to kill a major competitor. It allows the opportunity to raise prices more easily or eliminate blends that compete with their own existing blends if they want to. Stokebte, Gawith, and C&D are the only true major “artisan” blenders left. Most of the other guys buy tobacco from the main guys or are contracted out work from the main guys. They wouldn’t stay in business without them.

Stanwell haven't had their own pipe production for years, the owners STG (again) shut down the Danish factory and moved production to Italy in 2009. It's the same as with say Rattray's pipes. It's just a trademark that is kept around due to its good reputation but is produced by another company (though Rattray's is perhaps a poor example, as they never did their own pipes).
