Looks delicious!!! A quick tip to toast coconut quickly and easy…. Put coconut in a dry skillet on medium-low heat, stirring frequently to desired color.

Years ago in 8th grade Home Ec. class our teacher taught us to put a hold in each end of a can of Condensed Milk and bake it in a low oven. When it was done, it had turned into Caramel. Delicious!

​@@marysharvey: That's one way to make "dulcé dé léché". I know of 3 other methods to turn a can of sweetened condensed milk into dulcé dé léché. I use the pressure cooker (InstantPOT) method.

I still love vanilla wafers with peanut butter between them. I’ve eaten them all my life. I also love Samoa cookies,too, and I love anything with Dulce la Leche, so this sounds like a delicious treat! I love everything in it!

Hi Tom and Melissa, I got your cookbook from Amazon about a week ago and read all the delicious recipes when I am getting ready for bed. Today, I made the Somoas’ except I forgot to toast the coconut! They still look and will taste great. I ordered the Caramel from Walmart but they brought me the Dulce da Leche condensed sweetened milk instead. So I had Tom make my own caramel. You probably know this all lol ready but to make the caramel, take a can of the sweetened condensed milk and put it in a pan, covering it with water and bring it to a simmer. You need to keep adding water to the pan so that it can continues to stay covered. I kept it in the pan for 2 1/2 hours then took it out of the water and let it cool overnight. This morning when I got up, I checked it out and it turned out fantastic. Not to mention, the cost was about three dollars less than buying the actual caramel. I decided to make two cans so I have one whenever I need it. Also, I was making chocolates today with the coverture chocolate and when the cookies are out of the freezer, I willget the bottoms of the cookies and the chocolate and then striped them with my pastry bag. Every year I try to come up with new recipes and I take them to my neighbors and family for Christmas. There’s not anyone on my streak that does that and I’m close to being the oldest person out of the eight homes. I have always enjoyed making and this is definitely going in my favorites book. I enjoy your program very much and can’t wait till after the holidays to start making more things out of your book. God bless you bothand have a merry Christmas.

I made your Pecan Pie Bars this afternoon. After church my husband and I had a small lunch and then he took a nap and I made the Pecan Bars. I laughed about finding your favorite cookies in the freezer. My husband loved cookies and he would finish them off in no time. So I decided to hide some in the back of a cupboard. I like to toast coconut in the microwave - exact instructions are online, but the short of it is, you microwave in 30 second increments and toss well after each step until browned to your desire. I am 100% making this recipe this year. TYSM! ❤️

I appreciate how you scrape everything clean or shake the crumbs out of the bottom of the bag, etc. It makes me crazy when video cooks leave the sides of the pot thick with sauce or don't scrape a dish out. Not only is it wasteful, but that's often the best part they're leaving behind.

They look great! I think I would flatten them some before freezing. They may have more surface area to pick up the chocolate on the bottom, so not too much left over in the bag used for drizzling. I gotta save this recipe as I have many others you've shared. 😊

Unfortunately, Dulce de Leche is not as thick as the type of Caramel required in Turtles. You could heat up a can and add about 10-15 of those Caramel Squares and get the density of the caramel required

I couldn't find dulce lache for a recipe, so I put a can of sweetened condensed milk in a pot of water and simmered it for 7 hours making sure the can stayed completely submerged. It turned out fine.

Tom could drink that sweetened condensed milk with a straw or eat it with a spoon (can't remember which). It always cracks me up when I watch cooking videos and the host says something about us already having all of the ingredients. I literally had none of these in my house. I usually don't have most of them, if I have any at all. I guess that's because I really don't cook or make stuff anymore. I still enjoy watching y'all go through the process, though. These look great. I love everything in them. Another great episode in the series.
