Cooking greens in a pressure cooker takes a fraction of the time like 20 minutes and they taste just as good as cooking them for hours on the stove. I tried it one time and I’ve been cooking my greens in a pressure cooker now for the past three years! I cook the meat in the pressure cooker first for 10 min and then I put 2 cups of water and add the greens and onions in and cook for 20 minutes. It’s a life saver! Literally lol

@TannyCooks2 жыл бұрын
@@beanetricemcdaniel6853 Hey there! “Instant Pot” is the brand of electric pressure cooker that I use. There are other brands, but Instant Pot seems to be the gold standard to me. @InstantPot company makes several versions/models of their Pot. Since we are approaching the holiday season, I would recommend shopping around for the biggest one you need at the best price for the cooking you do and you can also check if the Instant Pot you want has all the buttons for the functions you need, the number of functions can change per Instant Pot model.😊 That’s what I did when I bought mine. I have a whole playlist dedicated to Instant Pot recipes that you can look at as well for additional recipes ideas.

A woman after my heart!! I had to cook every meal for my family.. my ex wife couldn’t even makes pancakes from a box Love ur kitchen!! Would love to have enough cabinets for every cooking supplies I have.. Last house I built for my ex and kids had a huge kitchen, but had to sell everything, causs MO is 50/50!!! After 33 years had a lot, but had to sell everything… I’ve always had turnip and mustard greens, have made kale and turnip greens which is really good!! But the other day my mom told me to try collards, so next time I go to store gonna get collards. The bottom stems u cut off, save and plant in some good soil and u’ll always have greens all the time… so don’t throw away!’ CG

Young lady you is so much like me. I cut the thick stems off my greens and layer them, tear leaf apart and cut in smaller pieces. I use to empty BBQ sauce bottles and set them upside down to get all of it. But now I add a little coca cola in all the bottles and shake it up to get all the sauce. I wish I was there. Look so delicious. I would have bought 2 plates.

And I too like making my potato salad the night before to marinate the ingredients. I don't usually put celery but next time I make it I'm going to do that. I usually put green peppers.
@tholmes12472 жыл бұрын
That celery gives it that nice crunch you can even saute it just a tad and throw them in so it doesn't have such a hard crunch big they are really fresh even though the wetness from the rest of the ingredients will wilt it down a bit... But I hear you I do sometimes use bell peppers I love the contrast you know a little bit of red an green just for the contrast diced real small, an flavor of them (not much a flavor but to me it is🤷🏾♀️) it's just the celery is a traditional way...... Just like some like their potato small or big or some like the salad like almost mashed potato consistency and some like the wholeness with a little bite to it an you get that crunch their either way when you find someone or you make a salad...

I use bacon or ham sometimes both ,and bacon grease in my collards. I use the same spice's except I add Mrs dash & I use wine vinegar and teaspoon of sugar it cuts the acid in them some folks here in the south tend to use to much sugar another thing I've seen some add to much water instead of steaming them. Looks yummy 😋.

I am going to try and grow the greens. Do you sprinkle with pepper to repel squirrels?
@TannyCooks Жыл бұрын
Growing your Greens is such a great idea! I do a number of organic things to try and deter pests in my garden - my biggest pests are aphids and deer (not squirrels). I plant pungent plants around my veggies that pests don’t like French marigold, garlic, and green onions. I also make a spray with water, cayenne pepper, garlic, and a little Dawn dish detergent to spray on my veggies. I also use food safe diatomaceous earth and lastly, I buy tulle fabric from my local fabric store or Walmart to pin down over my garden rows like a big net to keep pests off my veggies. Ultimately, nothing organic really works 100%, so I try to plant extra stuff since I know the pests will eat some of my veggies before I can, lol

You never lied about mild/bland cheddar cheeses. I've long abandoned mild cheddar in favor of sharp or extra sharp. I especially enjoy extra sharp on my omelettes and veggie burgers🥳. Have u ever substituted butter with olive oil in your mac & cheese recipe? The olive oil coats and binds the seasonings to the elbow macaroni. Also, try buttermilk instead of plain whole milk for more tang...and gluttony 🤭😅🤣.
