Worth noting that a lot of digital / stage pianos will receive the audio over same USB used for the midi. As well as being much easier to setup (and of course cheaper!), 2 distinct benefits: 1) if the iPad or Sunday Keys crashes you can just fade the digital piano up and carry on playing. 2) no faffing around swapping audio cables if some weeks you have a keys player that just uses the piano

Feature Request: Make click volume adjustable (if possible). We practiced last night with keys + pads + click and click was overwhelming. I am just reporting that our keys player said that click volume was set. (we have keys/pads/click all going out audio 3.5mm jack for now until we get an audio interface as you have described). Also, if possible, allow click routing to secondary outputs (imagine a Focusrite 4i4 with four outputs - allow sending of each to a pair of outs - say keys to 1,2 pad to 3 and click to 4). Of course, if routed that way, one can adjust the gain on the particular track once it hits a mixing system. Best-case scenario would be the TrackRig (a bit pricey at $499) - keys to 1,2 pads to 3,4, click to 5,6 (allowing someone to adjust which ear to put it in) and audio playback of perhaps some tracks or a song we are practicing on 7,8.

You can skip getting the audio interface if you’re strapped for funds and just get a USB hub with a headphone jack for audio out. Quality won’t be quite as good, but it should be workable.

This may be a dumb question, I’m new to this and trying to learn. Can I use my iPad (new iPad Pro with M4) charger as the power supply or do I need to purchase a separate one like in the video? It doesn’t seem to want to power my keyboard (Native Instruments kontrol 88 key MK3). Using hub to connect to audio interface Focusrite Scarlett 4th generation to Kali audio speakers.
@SundaySounds6 ай бұрын
Hi Angela, not a dumb question! As you're already leaning towards confirming, the included iPad power supply doesn't supply enough power to actually power connected hardware devices. That's why we always tell folks to purchase a dedicated power supply that's intended for providing more power.

I'm using a 9th Gen (A13 chip), and can positively attest that SK works GREAT on this device, with a 512 buffer size. I am actually able to load David's "one patch to rule them all" which uses all 15 sound slots, and play it with no problem. Things get a bit dicey if I replace one if these with one of my own plugins, such as Pianoteq or MKSensation with all slots filled. BUT both of those plugins work very well with up to about 6 sound slots. I might possibly upgrade to an M2 device so I can run more layers with my own plugins, but really, how often do I need more than 6?

@SundaySounds6 ай бұрын
Hi there, great question. If you'd like to use Sunday Keys sounds for recording we'd recommend that you actually download the MainStage format and then open those Patches as channel strips directly inside the sister DAW, Logic Pro. That way you can take real-time control of the sound, or automate it on the timeline as needed. It gives you maximum flexibility to record multiple midi takes, etc.

I don’t believe so. On my m1 iPad Air with stage manager turned on it ends up as a little landscape window in the middle of the screen. If you have an external midi controller with faders and stuff and don’t need to actually hit buttons in the app it works fine. The app will keep running and making sound in the background even if it’s not on screen at all. Just remember to close it when you’re done, it often completely drains my iPad battery overnight when I forget it’s running

Hi @WesleyanWorshipGuy and @Levinewell2325 thanks for your comments. David himself is using an M1 iPad Pro without issue, so we know there are things you can do too to dial in reliable and smooth performance. The symptoms you're describing are indicative that some local CPU optimizations can be adjusted to improve performance and reduce CPU strain, especially when you're playing with many sounds and a lot of notes. Just because we make it possible to add up to 15 Sounds, each with 64 voice polyphony per Sound, doesn't mean that all devices are going to be able to handle that. We'd be glad to help offer some specific things you can check to dial in the right balance between performance flexibility and lean CPU usage if you'd like a hand. Hey folks, thanks for your comments. Just want to note that we do track overall stability across new versions of iPadOS, MacOS, and across new versions and features of the App. On the overall we are seeing improved stability, with fewer crashes over time and the latest version of the App is proving very stable for the vast majority of users. That being said, we'd love to help you out so you also feel confident. The symptoms you're describing are indicative that some local CPU optimizations can be adjusted to improve performance and reduce CPU strain, especially when you're playing with many sounds and a lot of notes. Still crashing on my new iPad when using song specific patches. Super frustrating during a worship setting when the app completely crashes. Help??
@SundaySounds6 ай бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your comment and we can definitely help. Crashes of this kind indicate that you need to consider optimizing some of the CPU settings in the App, especially the pre-load setting and the audio buffer size. You can also reduce CPU strain further when you're playing Patches with a lot of sounds (or just playing a lot of notes) by reducing the "Voice Count" setting within individual Sounds in your Patches. We are happy to walk through optimization steps with you in more detail, you'll 100% be able to achieve reliable performance with your device (David's still running an M1 iPad, so you've got him beat!). Please reach out to us via the support page on our site if you'd like us to help you one on one. Thanks and have a great weekend!
