When I was younger we sold this sub at my local Hi-Fi Audio store. This sub is no joke and was often our go-to show off sub to customers. extremely impressive.

I got a collection of these subs. Some of the best. I first got the MKII then I got the signature then another MKII and how got the TSEQ signature which looks beautiful. People are missing out if they never heard these

I have a pair of their HRS 10 that I bought 2024 new old stock. Punchy, musical, and goes down to 20, which is good because I do listen to organ music and EDM. I don’t think there is any reason to get those really expensive (e.g. REL) subs because the HRS does it really well.

I bought the original Sunfire True Sub in 1998 . It was a revelation then. Mine is still in use ( I bought another one) and it’s bad to the bone.

Very nicely done! I wonder what differences can be heard between the solitare models and the regular true subs with the passive radiator

Thanks! Good question! I don't know but my guess would be more output or volume across the frequency range.

Do you have a calibration mic from an AVR? May be worth trying.
@goldenearaudioreview49044 жыл бұрын
An excellent idea! The same thought ran through my mind when editing the video.

Can you use a standard calibration mic to tune the sub? Sunfire says only use the mic it came with. I was wondering if it is due to being calibrated and limited to calibrate with low frequencies or if that is marketing. As I have a calibrated condenser mic used for full spectrum audio tuning.

@@goldenearaudioreview4904 Did you try this, as I too was wondering. Btw, you didnt go over the sound differences. Zoinks!

Sunfire subwoofers have been manufactured for close to 30 years. So there is a high probability that any subwoofer you buy used may need service to the amplifier. I bought a used Sunfire True Subwoofer Signature for $300, and spent $200 having the amp recapped, and I'd put it up against any of the new $500 subwoofers on the market.

It would crush any “ five hundred dollar” sub today. You have to spend a lot of money to get to its performance today.

So you said there are sound difference to such a sealed sub vs those like SVS or larger subs...You said you were going to get into that, and you DIDN"T!
@goldenearaudioreview49042 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry. Usually, larger box subwoofers have a more impactful sound, and louder at specific frequencies. Usually the sealed box has a more flat roll off in the lower frequencies.

No way a 10” sub can do 18hz. I love sunfire subs though.

Super Junior 8" can do 23hz, i can hear it, this 10" probably can do 18.
