LOL - i ordered banana plugs online after i saw this (so much easier!). At first i saw the Monoprice ones on Amazon. I have Monoprice RCA cables and they're great. Then i though - what if they have the fat screw on ones like you used. I searched a bit more and saw the Amazon ones and got them instead. Then in re-watching your video, i saw you had been using the Amazon ones too. Thanks!

I hate being color deficient. Always had trouble with the component cables.

By listening diferent reviews about XLS, I would say not that they lack resolution (not that clear) in midrange, but they are more laid back. A speaker with more promenent mids would only look more revealing, but it is not.

Do you think the encores would be appropriate an dynamic enough for large scale orchestra or progressive rock things which can have a lot going on an really puting lot of strain on the woffers!. I'm thinking of stuff like early genesis, king crimson early rush?

Good question. Would you be running them with a sub? Is this in a bedroom or a living room or open space?
@davidmorgen455813 күн бұрын
No sub as of yet but in a medium sized living slash bed-room

The speakers are good and will give you a lot. If you are looking for a big sound on a budget, I would look into some older floor standing speakers from the 80s. I got some old Sansuis that I loved. Big sound. If you're going with Bookshelves for space or aesthetics then these are great. I would recommend a sub if you're looking for dynamic and big sound.

I inherited my Dad's old receiver and speakers with old-fashioned spring clip attachments. Can I use speaker wire cable with your preferred Banana Plugs, or do I have to stick with bare wire connections for the spring clips? Or, frankly, should I just sell these old components and buy ones with better quality attachment points?
@goldenearaudioreview4904Ай бұрын
Good questions! Some older stuff that has lasted actually sounds awesome. Bare wire is best with spring clips. If I were you, I would hook it up and see how it sounds. If you do end up looking for new equipment then at least you have something to compare it to.

Was that Invalids playing in the intro to the video or just random royalty free music? (I would be blown away if someone else actually enjoyed the music I do)

I think I'm in the minority that likes transparent wires. I think it looks cool. Please don't hate me 😭

One of my studio monitors stopped working and after spending $$$ I found this video and just realised that I only needed to cut the ends of my strand cables for them to work again. Thanks for this video. 👍 You just saved me $$$. I’ve returned the new monitors as I no longer need them anymore😊
