@@Marunius arcane missile's main use isn't its damage but rather its utility. It generates Nether Precision charges, which buff Blast and Barrage. It generates the 2 charges when clearcasting is consumed (so on cast of Missiles) so you clip the missiles after 3 channel ticks once your GCD is back to maximize damage with the nether precision. You don't clip when Aether Attunement is up because that supercharges your missiles and makes them AoE, so when thats the case we do want the full damage.

@@Marunius No problem! I actually had a slight error in my original comment that I edited to fix. The Nether Precision charges are actually generated when you consume clearcasting and not on channel. You actually let 3 channel since you need GCD to come back up to cast anything else. That doesn't effect anything I said though, the basic idea is still the same of maximizing Nether Precision.

Can't wrap my head around the fact that we're arcane blasting that much during a possibly 10+ mob pull, like I understand we're holing our charges but we used to just send and go back up to 4 with arcane explosion

@@MrBlueSleeves Yeah I think anytime you have to cast a single target spell in a AoE scenario it's a sign that something is wrong design wise. I don't really enjoy it either but at the moment chasing Burden of Power procs provides the highest DPS and casting Blast is the best way to achieve that goal. Maybe once some more tuning comes in Spellslinger can pull ahead and be the go-to for AoE as it has a much more traditional multi-target rotation. Sunfury could then keep its niche centered on strong Funnel damage.

@@PhosphorosWoW so we really aren't using orb barrage to send barrages, its main purpose is just to hope we get back to 4 charges if for some reason we dont get our refund from tier set or consuming burden of power. sending orb is strictly used when below 2 charges not really used in aoe at all

Hey there. Any chance you'll post a video regarding what we should craft? Going into season 1 we will have 2x sparks available. I am curious as what embellishments to use as the hub website says one while wowhead says another. Idk which to believe and going into the discord to ask is a nightmare. :( I will most likely craft a weapon + offhand as they are a big damage upgrade early on. But idk how the embellishments will actually work. If I want 2x Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension for weapon + off-hand or 1x Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension for 1-handed + crafted wrists with Writhing Armor Banding.

Glad that the "nerf" didn't impact the rotation too much, although it was definitely more fun before especially trying to line up burden of power with the second nether precision to double dip on both at the same time. I can't wait for blizzard to hit us with a flat damage nerf after all this anyways since the nerf was not nearly enough to bring sunfury in line with the other specs.

Thank you for the video and getting it uploaded so quickly! Pretty new to Arcane and I've been wondering what the new rotation would look like. Something that would be really useful in these videos is to slow down the example rotation that you put out, and break down the priority in practice with some of the decision making. Seeing the rotation in real time is useful, but it doesn't illustrate the decision making or the logic of the priority list.

Quick note, maybe can be usefull also for others: in the ST filler you say at point 2 to cast barrage specifically if you are at 1 stack of NP and casting Blast. What do we have to to exactly if we have burden of power at 2 stack of NP and casting Blast? Blast to consume Burden and then at 1 stack of NP queue a Blast Barrage? Thanks a lot

The fact arcane seems to be purely focused on single target raid for this expansion, I've preferred frost. It pumps out insane damage single target and mows down groups of mobs. Plus, better in PVP. Just better overall to play in my opinion. Top DPS in EVERY group you're in isn't always the winner for a spec.

I spellqueued Blast+Barrage on burden there because I had 1 stack of NP and if you spellqueue Blast+Barrage on Burden you also consume Glorious Incandescence. I would do the same if I had no NP or no CC. If I had no NP but had CC I would Missiles > Blast > Blast+Barrage. "1 NP + glorious incandescence overlap -> spell q" Correct but you would also spellqueue on Burden of Power with 1 NP as that would consume Glorious Incandescence aswell.

Ok so basically before you wouldn’t use ur CC on 4 spheres, use it on 5 to line up both NPs and que burden to double dip, now you’re not delaying it ever and just sending it. So like if you were swimming in CC proccs at 0 spheres it’d line up so you’d actually have NP for every blast now instead of that weird naked 5th one. This kinda makes sense

Hey, at 9:05 during the aoe rotation you have burden of power up, 2 stacks of clear casting, and your orb is coming up. Why do you blast, blast, barrage instead of barrage, then either you get a lucky orb proc or you just missiles to get back to 4 orbs? I am asking this as i am confused as i thought we want to use the burden of power on a barrage in aoe.

1. Because Evocation's damage buff is shorter than it was in DF, we skip building to 4 charges in the opener and instead let TotM grant us the 4 charges. In every burn after the first though, if you have 4 charges going into Arcane Surge you should Barrage > TotM. 2. We cast Blast instead of Explosion because Blast will build up our Burden of Power which gives us "free" Arcane Barrages. So it's more funnel damage than pure AoE damage, but the funnel damage is also our highest form of AoE damage at the moment.

I'm a bit confused, why you blast- barrage with Burden and not with GI sometimes? 9:24 and 9:58 and the blast-barrage at 11:05 what if you didnt get a that lucky orb? you will be at 0 charges and burden

When you Blast+Barrage with Burden you automatically consume GI, so spellqueuing Blast+Barrage with Burden is the correct play if you have 1 stack of NP. I cast the 11:05 Barrage just to end the demonstration on a Barrage but if I was going to follow through I shouldn't have casted it since I didn't have a way to regenerate my charges (as you said, you don't want to rely on Orb Barrage. The correct play there would be to continue Blasting until I get a CC then Missiles > Blast > Blast+Barrage on 1 stack of NP as by then I can use Glorious Incandescence or Arcane Orb.

1. You would finish the AB cast and then spellqueue when you have 1 stack of NP, so finish AB Cast > Missiles > Blast > Blast + Barrage 2. Yep! Doing so will double dip Blast+Barrage with NP while also buffing Blast with Burden and instantly consuming GI with Barrage. Appreciate the support!

Yeah in single target you don't really care about playing around Magi's Spark specifically. It can happen naturally based on haste and with Time Anomaly procs or if you lust, etc but it's not important enough in the opener to force you to stray from the priority list and Barrage.

I personally spent a decent amount of time practicing rotation and adjusting WA. Cause too much was going for me too. I finished off with: 1) a CC that goes Left / Right / Bigger. + Nether color change. 2) Final 3s of Arcane Surge into Arcane Soul 3) A Green, Orange, Red countdown for Burden into inglorious. Nether precision is the main one others have that I left off. My puny brain can handle knowing I have 2 stacks after a missles.

OK.... I almost get this now! ;) One thing that still confuses me is when to Barrage (queue it after Arcane Blast, what people call doubledip?). I know that we dont do it on 2 stacks of NP, but only on 1 stack. With that said my experience is that is sometimes drain all my Arcane Charges. So - the only source we have for regaining our Arcane Charges when barraging is Glorious Inscandescence, or am I mistaken? Do we still doubledip with 1 stack of NP even if it would drain all four AC, to them manually regain them with orb etc.? Hope to get this clarified so I can finally master the spec. Its confusing - even more after the recent changes.

Hi there! No you only doubledip with 1 stack of NP if you have some way to regain the charges. In ST that would mean Glorious Incandescence/Intuition and in AoE that would mean Glorious Incadecensce/Intuition, Arcane Orb, or a Clearcasting stack. Hope this made sense.

@@niklaspapazissis8115 The only time you would lose your stacks when following the rotation is when you are out of mana so the only spell you can cast is Arcane Barrage. Outside of that scenario you should pretty much never drop below 4 Arcane Charges.

In single target Glorious/tier set is going to dictate when you Barrage and then you try to have that Barrage double dip on the last stack of NP if you already have stacks or have Clearcasting stacks to generate NP. If you don't have NP or CC then you would just Barrage without double dipping.

Sorry if I'm reiterating but just want to make sure -> basically instead of always queueing barrage on burden we now 'hold' the GI buff untill we can queue it on a 1 stack NP, OR are fully dry (no np/cc). I assume the 2nd condition is because else the buff might run out? Thanks for the great vids

Correct you either use GI the next time you have 1 NP (assuming you're at 2 stacks already or you're at 0 stacks but have CC to generate NP) or you just use it when you're fully dry (no np/cc). The reason is because once you get the 4pc every time you cast Blast or Barrage you have a chance at proccing Intuition and you don't want to overlap Intuition with GI so we pretty much want to get rid of GI/Intuition as quickly as possible. Hope that made sense!

Heya Phosphoros, question regarding the AOE rotation. How come we are constantly doing arcane blast instead of barrage inside NP? Does the blast dmg outweigh the barrage + orb proc chance even on a big pull?

We Blast alot as Sunfury because it gives us the fastest progress towards Burden of Power which through Glorious Incandescence gives us free Arcane Barrages. Sunfury hates being below 4 Arcane Charges so you really only want to Barrage when you have some way to regain the charges and betting on Orb Barrage with no guarenteed way to get back to 4 will most of the time be a DPS loss.

@phosphoros isn't there a mistake in your rotation demonstration? Right at start? You open Evo, missiles, surge and totm...but totm gives you 4 arcane charges. So should it be rather Evo, missiles, surge, barrage. totm...and then normal prio list?

Nope that is the correct opener for Sunfury single target. Since we don't have 4 Arcane Charges we skip the Barrage as it would be weak and we instead let Touch get us to 4 charges and then we go straight into chasing Burden of Power. On every burn after the first you will have 4 Arcane Charges though, so in those you should Surge > Barrage > Touch
