I love the question, “If this item were lost in a fire, would I feel relieved?”
@Mark7232 ай бұрын
And, more importantly: if this item were in a house about to burn down, would you run inside to retrieve it...?
@os-qt1hc2 ай бұрын
That is not a good question. Who would run into a burning house to retrieve stuff? I definitely wouldn't.
@hipunpun2 ай бұрын
Alternatively, if it burned would you rebuy it?

I live in an area where winters can be quite harsh and my husband and I both have some mobility issues, so going into winter, I stock up our food pantry and freezer with enough stuff to make sure we can get through a bad patch and not risk our safety. However, come spring, we do a freezer/pantry eat down where I buy minimal to no groceries so we can use everything up. I absolutely hate food waste and it's so easy to get carried away with groceries.

I love the idea of not replacing something straight away to see if I actually need it . I think I will use this myself

I save faded t shirts to use as sleep shirts. So comfortable and then throw away when they are tearing apart.

I do the same, but my clothes end their cycle as rags to clean windows and stuff and at last as oil rags for engines and such before they go for good.

Not a minimalist, but has respect for the concept "minimalism is for lazy people". I am lazy and reducing my stuff make cleaning easier. Also getting ready in the morning.

I wrote all these down. I only own what fits in three bags, but I live with my son's family of four, and they are disorganized and they leave to me to help with the house and I have permission to help them become more organized. With so many things coming in but so little going out, it can be stressful figuring out how to help them, but now I have some ideas, thank you.

Hello, We live in a old spartanly appointed apartment in Montreal. My kitchen is a nook space, and cabinets are few. So I learned how to cook a holiday meal in a 3 by 3 foot space. * We have a 1 year rule. If we don't use it, or wear it inside of a year, we toss it at the end of the year. * Our building is very transient, university students, and immigrant families. (if we have clothes that were on the chopping block) we wash them, and set them out for people to take. * I don't buy clothes any more unless it is necessary (i.e. winter) Since my social calendar has gone dry, I don't need a closet full of clothes I won't use to begin with. * I've since opened a special savings account that I toss money into each month, for special occasions and especially Christmas, since we have a bunch of nieces and nephews now. (So whatever I used to spend money on, now I can see, exactly what I am saving) it makes saving money much easier. * Decluttering has been an ongoing push. What we keep is in storage. What we don't wear, is donated or tossed. But my library is still in tact !! * I am more the minimalist and frugal and pay very little for a haircut. My husband still needs his salon, hair dye, anti ageing serums, and altered clothing to go out into public spaces. For me, I am no longer concerned about what people think of how I look as long as I am presentable, yes? I turned 57 last Wednesday !! * I can do without public scrutiny and judgment. Well, at this point, I can do without people all together !! he he he he

Seve, great video. I love and appreciate how much effort you put into your videos and it's honestly inspiring. I have no doubt you will do this as a full time career in the next year or two if you aren't already. I'm in the process now of decluttering my life and home and I have two unrelated questions for you. 1. I believe I am a minimalist at heart however I have only recently just discovered this way of living, I feel like I need this. My partner is although supportive, definitely not a minimalist. How do you think I should proceed when I can only declutter so much by removing my own possessions and alot of the clutter in our house is hers? 2. I am a musician and run a music studio. I've tried a couple different styles of KZbin video as I've always wanted to do "something" on KZbin. I feel now that I actually do have the skill and drive to do something I love and am good at on KZbin, however the style of video I want to do requires an immense amount of time and work. I am almost finished filming the first video and haven't started editing. How do you maintain the motivation to put so much time and effort into something that (atleast at first) no one is going to watch, do you have any tips to schedule time to do this in my already busy life and do you have any other tips or advice for this? Greetings from Australia.

Thank you! 😇 1. Keep an open communication with your partner and discuss how minimalism helps you so she can actually understand the benefits and not just think you are going through some " identity crisis" when decluttering things 😄 You simplify what you can but I have found that it's not worth it to feel resentment about your partner's stuff or choices. After all she values different things and respecting that is more important than having a perfectly simplified home. It's important to realize that many of those things probably bring happiness to her after all, and therefore improves your relationship as well. However, I talk with my partner if something isn't working when it comes to our home so trying to stay proactive and not just accept that it will stay messy forever. It's all about finding that balance. 2. When you are getting started, done is better than perfect. Posting 50 below average videos is better than posting 5 amazing ones in my opinion. Your level of "amazing" will keep improving so much as you stay consistent that sweating the small stuff isn't worth it. Just post 10 "shitty" videos first that you want to post to understand how things work and then try to improve from there. You'll find what works the best for your schedule only by doing trial and error. But aim to post around one video every week if just possible, no matter how raw it is. If you only had 3 hours that week to work on it, then you did. At this point it's all about learning the skills and understanding yourself better rather than getting the views. Hope this helps and let me know when you have 10 videos posted 🤗

I think that's highly personal and depends on so many factors. I don't have any loans or debts myself currently but I can see why people do it and how it can be financially a good decision in the long run. I'd research and think about the pros and cons before making any decisions 😊

Why the fuck would I put my phone in another pocket, so I constantly have to grab the wrong pocket everytime I need to use my phone? Just seems so stupid!
