At one point, he was a king. A lifestyle that 99% of people could only dream of. 500 million views in 2015. $200,000 a month during his peak. And his name was FouseyTube. However, over time, FouseyTube AKA Fousey has slowly fallen out of the spotlight, declining rapidly since his heyday on the platform. How could such a downfall have occured? This video will go over the story of Yousef Erakat. In the Rise and Fall of FouseyTube (Mini Documentary)
Song from 8:47 - 11:24 is "Distant Shores" from the Pixelmon OST, written and composed by Chris Geddes. You can find the original song here - • Pixelmon OST - Distant... and his bandcamp here - chrisgeddes.ba...

It’s so difficult to watch someone embarrass themselves like that when they’re clearly having a severe mental break, it’s sad that no one close to him at the time stopped him from acting like that.

You are not so easily going to convince a physically imposing person to do the opposite of (or stop) what they have set their minds to do, while they are having a mental break. This is the reason they invented the straight jacket, and also why orderlies are usually large/strong males.

Bipolar is no joke. Maniac episodes can last anywhere from hours to months. During that time (if the episode is not that bad) you can be very productive. And after that, a depression episode happens and you can literally blow away everything that you've done. Because your mood is switching from and extreme to another, it can be near impossible to stay on track. I'm sorry that people are not more forgiving of him.

I was quite young when the fousey tube thing happened and I was a big fan of the KZbin prankers of the time like roman Atwood fousey etc, when the fousey stuff happened i remember thinking of fousey as a laughing stock of KZbin and Rembert finding the whole breakdown thing and failed concert thing hilarious, as I'm older and more mature now looking back this was a man going through some serious shit and the youtubers who documented it painted him in such a negative light to their 1000s of very young impressionable and quite frankly stupid viewers, I see him now as a guy who was trying his best to make something off himself, he wanted the life that hed been advertised since he was young and he had the drive to go get it and thats a lot more than i can say for most people.

This should be a lesson to youtubers though, don't mix your personal life on here with your channel, most people on here are braindead consumers that just want to constantly entertained, not exactly the best place to ask for help, I get someone as popular as him needing help would turn to the public but most people don't care or are living in their own world, only asking for people to tune out of what you are doing, he should have just found help privately (if that was possible with his popularity) and kept it that way. As for his content all he had to do was find something everyone would like, like I said before people are real dumb nowadays so its not a shock that it doesn't take much effort to entertain such slow ass people, he would have to do less than half the work he had to in 2013-2014 to find a new niche. But he comes across as a emotional guy and when someone like that losses control its hard to tell them anything rational, I am guessing people tried to tell him what I am saying (especially keeping a lid on everything) only to fall on deaf ears, guess this was always gonna happen, hopefully he has a good accountant/manager that would make sure he is still good financially

I can relate to the taking long breaks. I had a channel called "Crazycatman" Back in 2016 I would upload Lets play videos of games, or tutorials, and just lots of random stuff. My goal was to save up and build a decent computer. I finally found a decent niche of hacking a few mobile games and I made many tutorials, and people paided me to add stuff to their accounts. I made enough to get what I wanted, and then I enjoyed it. I still took income for doing the hacking and it was still profitable. But it just didn't continue. I was running out of Ideas going into 2019 and later that year, I would stop uploading my 1 to 2 videos a day like I did back in 2016, 2018. A few still were able to get 100k to 300k views but that was all it ever accounted for, then I only got a few spikes of videos getting over 20k views. Eventual my lack of wanting to continue and being lazy cause I had got what I already wanted led to me not uploading any content. I still gained enough subscribers seen over the time of my inactivity. KZbin was starting to change its methods of monetization and their filter was getting a bit out of hand. On May 15th 2020 my channel was terminated, just so happen to be my last day of highschool, so yeah. All my saved videos, all my uploads, gone. 15,100 subs. Fast forward to now, I have had ideas and plans now because Im in a way more interesting situation I always wanted to be in which is messing around with my cars I have. I'm deeply in the Audi community and Lexus community that I could potential start a new channel, but yet, at the end of the day, I don't want to turn my hobbies into something I have to take care of on a daily basis, but in reality is still something that could be very profitable if done right.

This one really hits home. I used to watch Yousef's videos religiously back in the day. Around 2014 was when I graduated HS and subsequently became very depressed. It was nice to have his content to rely on each day where he wasn't afraid of talking about his own struggles, mental health, etc. I actually enjoyed his vlog style videos more than the pranks. I was pretty bummed when he would take his multiple month long hiatuses. The whole "coachella" v2 event also didnt paint him in a very good picture and it was clear he was still dealing with some serious mental health issues. Overall, as someone who spent hours watching tons of his content years ago, I really do think he only ever meant to do good and was one of the few KZbinrs who really cared about his fanbase and the quality of the content he uploaded. I wish him nothing but the best honestly.

Unfortunately he has an amazing family, it’s obvious in a lot of his old videos, his family is really tight packed and they would always go out to dinner together and one of the family members would pay each time. Society and who you hang around causes these mental illnesses I believe. Changing the way you think into wanting to be something you’re not, wanting more and more but not being able to get it. Greed destroys people, having a vision in life for materialistic things also destroys people, some are tough enough to not care, others are too good deep down to be able to transition into that sort of living.

As someone who's been battling depression and anxiety for years I'm proud of him for being able to get himself together which is something i'm still struggling with. My dad also suffers from bi polar disorder and seeing fousey go through it made me sad i feel like a lot of people don't understand that mental illness enough. There's a spectrum to how severe it can be and how bad the episodes are to others that don't know about it, it probably looks like he's super crazy and an idiot for the stuff he was doing. I hope he's gotten the proper treatment for it.

Dollar's death was honestly the biggest downfall of Fousey. Dollar was the only one that gave him a 'will to live' and his death made it clear to Fousey that he had already reached his peak and that it's all downhill from there, he had multiple breakdowns and eventually went on multiple hiatuses and that lack of content pretty much just killed his channel.

I don’t treat mental issues as a joke and as someone who has had manic episodes & deep depression, believe me you’ll rationalize that you’ll fine while at the same time doing insane things that you don’t realize how bad they are until you look back on it. Aw man I remember him! His mannerisms would remind me of Drake. But I think many are unaware of the consequences associated with person when their identity is heavily tied into what they do. If what they do takes a hit or is negatively affected by some external influence so will who they are as a person to the core. FouseyTube wasn't just a KZbin channel it was an extension of Yousef. When it began to crumble it inevitably affected his mental health. I pray he's doing better now. He was never problematic like some of these other lame content creators.

From a business standpoint, he definitely should have kept doing the KZbin cribs series. It's honest, interesting (enough), and *sustainable* because there will always be more and more KZbinrs he can do videos on. I'm not part of that target audience but I'd still consider watching one if I didn't dislike his personality so much. That said, for the sake of his mental health, switching to a podcast channel might not be a bad idea after all. I don't think he's chasing numbers anymore. He just wants to have fun and share his thoughts and opinion while still making some money doing it. H3 made a similar transition as well. The community was begging for more reaction videos but Ethan just couldn't keep doing them forever. Sometimes, it's not just about the money.

It seemed like he had the mindset, but not the mental endurance to handle it. His goals felt very shallow, and it also felt like he just couldn't get back into the grind, and I know that feeling very well. Taking a long break was his biggest mistake. Just like how he goes to the gym religiously, if he had stopped going to the gym, he'd lose that mentality to keep grinding. If he was losing motivation to make videos, he should've pursued something greater such as starting a brand, business, or becoming a worldwide celebrity. It won't easy, but with the relevance and wealth that he had at the time, he would've had a massive headstart. In conclusion: He was lost. His fame was unprecedented, his goals were already met if any, and he just made bad decisions after bad decisions. If he had gotten help instead of trying to take care of everything by himself, surely he would've still been relevant today.
